A Persona 4 Remake Has Seemingly Been Leaked By One Of The Voice Actors

Atlus never seems to be able to keep its Persona remakes under wraps.

Prior to the official unveiling of Persona 3 Reload, there were several whispers and leaked information hinting at its potential planning stages, or even suggesting it had already progressed substantially in development, long before its eventual announcement.

Similar to previous speculations about the potential remake of Persona 4, we’ve just received a significant hint. This clue comes in the form of a social media update from an actor who worked on the original game’s voices.

According to Yuri Lowenthal, who originally voiced Yosuke Hanamura in English for Persona 4, he will not reprise his role in the remake because it appears the developers do not wish for him to return, despite his possible eagerness to do so. The post was swiftly removed from Bluesky.

A New Voice Cast Again?

If we take Lowenthal’s statement at face value, it suggests that the Persona 4 remake might follow a similar pattern as the Persona 3 Reload by re-voicing and potentially recasting its entire cast of characters.

In various adaptations of Persona 4, it’s happened before that some characters switched their English voice actors. For instance, Chie and Teddie were recast for Persona 4 Golden, while Kanji changed midway through the anime adaptation of Persona 4, and Rise experienced a similar change in Persona 4 Dancing All Night.

Instead of bringing back our beloved cast for a remake, it’s also exciting to consider fresh, talented voices stepping into the spotlight for such an esteemed project as a remake of a game like Persona 4.

It appears that the timing of the leaks for the Persona 4 remake is quite similar to the leaks about Persona 3 Reload before its official announcement. For several months now, we’ve been getting small hints and tidbits, much like with Persona 3, and these have generally occurred around the same time of year. With Persona 3, this eventually culminated in a reveal during that year’s Xbox Games Showcase in June.

This year, the Xbox Games Showcase is scheduled for June 8, meaning we don’t have much time left before we find out if history will repeat itself.
