It’s possible that “Assassin’s Creed: Shadow” could be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, as suggested by recent remarks from Ubisoft officials. Many third-party games have already been ported to Nintendo’s latest console, with many more expected to launch in 2025 and beyond. If this comes to fruition, fans eager to play “Assassin’s Creed: Shadow” on the go using the highly anticipated hybrid console may soon get their wish.
Despite facing some controversy about its main character and criticism for its narrative and repetitive gameplay, Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows has reached a significant player milestone – 5 million players dived into the game in just four months since release.
During a recent earnings call, as reported by IGN, Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot and CFO Frederick Duguet hinted at the possibility of Assassin’s Creed Shadows coming to the rumored Switch 2 console. In response to questions from investors, Duguet mentioned a game scheduled for launch on the Switch 2 within their current fiscal year ending in March 2026. Guillemot later added that new versions of Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on various platforms, leading many to speculate that a Switch 2 version may be forthcoming, given its popularity and high production cost. Ubisoft might be keen to expand its reach and recoup costs by making the game accessible to a broader audience on the new console.
Ubisoft Executives Seemingly Confirm That Assassin’s Creed Shadows Is Coming to the Switch 2
Some enthusiasts speculate that the second edition of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” for the Switch could debut simultaneously with its eagerly awaited “Claws of Awaji” expansion, tentatively set for release between September and October this year. This DLC is said to offer approximately 10 hours of fresh narrative content, as well as a new setting, new adversaries, and enhanced abilities for both Yasuke and Naoe. It’s also rumored that a cooperative mode might be introduced sometime in 2026.
Although Assassin’s Creed Shadows hasn’t been formally announced for Nintendo’s upcoming console, numerous well-liked third-party games are scheduled to release on the Switch 2 throughout 2025. Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws is slated for the hybrid system in September, while titles such as Borderlands 4, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, and Hades 2 are anticipated to debut before the year ends.
