This article contains spoilers from One Piece‘s Elbaf Arc.
Right now, “One Piece” finds itself in the Elbaf storyline, and audiences have been thoroughly enjoying the latest progressions. A significant factor contributing to this enjoyment is the ongoing Loki flashback, which has provided a captivating glimpse of the legendary Rocks D. Xebec. It’s safe to say that this flashback will continue to pique fans’ interest in the future as well.
Observing closely, it’s evident that through the character Rocks, Oda has unveiled a power that many fans have longed to delve deeper into – Haki. Intriguingly, Rocks’s combat style seems to introduce a previously unseen form of Haki to us, a rarity so scarce that only three characters in the expansive One Piece universe have been observed employing it thus far.
Rocks Could Use Conqueror’s Haki In A Special Way
One Piece Chapter 1155 Shows Rocks’s Fighting Style
Chapter 1155 of One Piece highlighted various impressive feats by the legendary pirate Rocks D. Xebec. He launched an assault on the sacred land of Marijoa and even took down a high-ranking Navy officer, known as an Admiral. In a pivotal confrontation with Harald, Rocks’ exploits continued, culminating in him engaging Loki in combat within the main timeline of the Loki flashback. While this last feat may appear minor compared to the others, it is in fact monumental, as it provides insight into Rocks’ true fighting style.
The force behind Rocksword’s attacks resembled that of a heavy blow from a hammer or the impact of a cannon shot. He was widely recognized as a formidable figure, leveling anything that crossed his path.
In a unique fashion unlike traditional swordsmanship seen in the One Piece world, Rocks’s attacks are destructive and blunt rather than cutting. His strikes have an impact similar to a hammer blow, causing widespread damage but not actually slicing through anything. This method is so different that it’s almost as if his sword is functioning like a hammer instead. The specifics of how he achieved this aren’t clear, but fans speculate it might be a unique application of Haki.
Rocks Has Special Conqueror’s Haki SFX
It’s evident that Rocks’ attacks produce an extraordinary rumble, louder than what one would expect from typical Conqueror’s Haki users. This suggests that the potency of his Haki might be stronger than most, making his attacks unique.
No matter what, fans understand that whenever he wields his sword, it seems more like a hammer strike. It doesn’t inflict a visible wound. Instead, it feels like a forceful blow from a hammer that causes internal harm and feels crushing from within. Interestingly, this technique doesn’t fit into any conventional sword fighting style, given its indiscriminate nature.
Roger and Shanks Can Use Rocks’s Style
Shanks Learned It By Observing Roger
In addition to Rocks, two other characters in the series One Piece, specifically Roger and Shanks, have employed this particular fighting style. It’s said that Roger learned this style after observing Rocks. However, during the God Valley Incident, he probably didn’t use it. But when he engaged in battles with Oden and Whitebeard, he had already become proficient in it.
Later, Shanks too discovered this ability, which he acquired just by watching Roger. What’s surprising is that he managed to master it before he turned fifteen. Interestingly, Oda mentioned that none of the Roger Pirates were able to replicate the Divine Departure despite their attempts, but Shanks was the exception to this rule.
