Oblivion Remastered Hits Huge Player Count Milestone

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been part of the nine million strong community playing the Oblivion Remasters! It’s only been three months since its release, and it’s clear that this franchise has the clout to succeed without relying on a traditional, extensive marketing blitz. The simultaneous announcement and successful launch of Oblivion Remastered is a testament to its enduring popularity.

Ever since the announcement in April, it was evident that the Oblivion Remastered was destined for success. The project had been whispered about for quite some time, and fans eagerly anticipated the results of the collaboration between Virtuos and Bethesda when its development was officially confirmed. For many, the extent of the remaster took them by surprise, and it didn’t take long before Oblivion Remastered sales surpassed those of the original game.

Currently, on platform X, Bethesda has expressed gratitude to players as Oblivion Remastered surpassed the nine-million player mark. The appreciation was extended to “everyone who played the hero of Kvatch, mastered the Arch-Mage role, reached Grand Champion status, defeated the Blackwood Company, embodied the Gray Fox, and heard the Night.” It’s a significant number of players, one that has been accumulated in just three months. Although Oblivion Remastered is currently overshadowed by Skyrim in terms of concurrent players, it remains an impressive accomplishment for the game.

Oblivion Remastered Hits Nine Million Players Milestone

It’s important to note that the nine million players for Oblivion Remastered doesn’t necessarily equate to sales. Given that it was released day one on Xbox Game Pass, this likely significantly increased the number of people playing for free, which may not have resulted in additional purchases. Regrettably, even with such a large player base, the studio responsible for Oblivion Remastered, Virtuos, still had to undergo layoffs recently.

After the remastered version of Oblivion, there is speculation about whether more of Bethesda’s classic games will get a similar treatment. There are persistent whispers about a possible Fallout 3 remaster, considering its close resemblance to Oblivion, it would be quite logical. However, it remains unclear if Virtuos would be part of any potential Fallout 3 remaster project.
