After the 88th Producer LIVE broadcast for Final Fantasy 14, players on social media noted that the winning hairstyle from the 2023 hairstyle design contest might appear in update 7.3. This specific hairstyle in Final Fantasy 14 is hinted to be concealed within a sneak peek of armor linked to the upcoming alliance raid, San d’Oria: The Second Walk.

During the recent Live Producer’s Letter stream, Naoki Yoshida (producer and director of Final Fantasy 14) announced that Patch 7.3, titled “The Promise of Tomorrow,” would be launched on August 5 after server maintenance. This upcoming update is expected to wrap up the main storyline of Dawntrail and offer hints about where the tale of Final Fantasy 14 will head next. Alongside the main story upgrade, Patch 7.3 and future updates for Final Fantasy 14 will unveil the Pilgrim’s Traverse deep dungeon, Yok Huy allied society quests for crafters, as well as the new chapter of the Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raid series.

In looking at the armor rewards inspired by Final Fantasy 11, some observant fans spotted an unintentionally included new hairstyle among the new items. On the official Final Fantasy 14 subreddit, a user named Pinkbunnies66 questioned whether this new hairstyle was accidentally shown in the Patch 7.3 previews. Other users speculated that it was one of the winning designs from the 2023 hairstyle design contest, specifically the third entry displayed by Square Enix. This medium-length hairstyle was showcased on a female miqo’te character model wearing armor from the San d’Oria alliance raid. The unique feature of this hairstyle is that it has a highlight channel on the inside of the hair, offering players a fresh way to personalize their characters.

Final Fantasy 14’s 7.3 Previews Accidentally Revealed Potential New Hairstyle

Despite the miqo’te character appearing in bows during the demonstration, Pinkbunnies66 mentioned that these were actually part of the San d’Oria armor set. If the current speculation about the new hairstyle proves accurate, it wouldn’t be unprecedented, as Dawntrail has incorporated winning designs from the 2023 contest in the past. For instance, the hairstyle A Half Times Two, which was chosen from the winning pool, was introduced with Patch 7.15. Players can obtain this style by either exchanging 49 Clouddark Demimateria II, a drop from The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) alliance raid, or through the market board using Gil.

It’s likely that the upcoming content update for Final Fantasy 14, titled “The Promise of Tomorrow,” will also introduce new hairstyles. But, we’ll have to wait and see if the rumored new hairstyle will be a part of the climactic patch for Dawntrail and how it can be acquired.
