In 2025, it’s been an incredible year for anime enthusiasts, kicking off with the return of Solo Leveling Season 2 in January, and then enjoying Takopi’s Original Sin during Summer 2025. The journey has been nothing short of spectacular! What’s fascinating about the anime world is that underdog titles can occasionally outshine more well-known ones – and that’s precisely what Tougen Anki has managed to do this year.
Tougen Anki Anime Is Outperforming Sakamoto Days And Dandadan
Tougen Anki Has Been A Massive Hit
Based on recent data, the anime series Tougen Anki has soared to the number one spot on Netflix in Japan, and it’s also made it into the Global Top 5. This is quite an impressive feat for the show, as both Sakamoto Days and Dandadan boast large fan bases.
The buzz surrounding Tougen Anki is steadily increasing, and there’s a strong chance it could be one of the most unexpected hits of 2025 if its current trajectory continues. One reason for its potential success is the compelling narrative and well-crafted characters that form the backbone of any popular anime series.
The animated version of Tougen Anki was developed by Studio Hibari. While it might not garner the same level of popularity as studios like MAPPA, Madhouse, or Studio Pierrot, it has still produced a number of exceptional adaptations. Some of these notable adaptations include:
- Classroom of the Elite
- Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun
- Assassination Classroom
- Danganronpa: The Animation
It’s no wonder that Tougen Anki’s anime adaptation is shaping up to be excellent, given the studio’s past achievements. To date, 4 episodes have been aired, with another 20 yet to come over the next two seasons.
Dandadan And Sakamoto Days Are Also Worth Watching
Both Anime Are Watched By Millions
Although Tougen Anki seems to be dominating the current anime scene, that doesn’t diminish the popularity of Dandadan and Sakamoto Days. In fact, these shows continue to garner a substantial amount of love from their viewers. Notably, Dandadan has been quite successful, with its latest season further cementing its success built upon the first season.
Although fans of Sakamoto Days have expressed some dissatisfaction with the adaptation, particularly those who’ve read the manga. They argue that the anime isn’t fully capturing the essence of the manga. Granted, it’s not terrible, but there are certain aspects that could be refined. TMS Entertainment has the potential to elevate the series further by making improvements. Here’s hoping that the third season of the anime will witness an upgrade in animation quality.
Tougen Anki is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
