Bungie is becoming more a part of PlayStation Studios.
During a recent earnings call on Thursday, Sony’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Lin Tao, discussed various topics. Among them were Sony’s shift towards live-service games and updates regarding Bungie’s shooter game Marathon. In particular, Tao addressed Bungie’s independence and how it has evolved over the past few months and years, as well as its future changes.

Regarding Bungie’s governance, when we were acquired, we ensured a highly independent work environment, which was one perspective at the time. Subsequently, we underwent structural changes, as announced last year, making our independence less pronounced. Now, Bungie is transitioning into a role that aligns more closely with PlayStation Studios, and the integration process is progressing.

She went on to explain, “In other words, over time, if you view it as a continuous journey, the goal for Bungie is to integrate with PlayStation Studios.
Bungie is actively developing the previously mentioned video game known as Marathon. As per Sony’s latest announcement, the game is anticipated to be released by March 31, 2026. However, specific launch details from Tao remain unspecified.
She mentioned that the launch might occur during this financial year, but it’s essential to note that this isn’t a guarantee. An official declaration regarding the event has not been made as of now.
