Crimson Desert Delayed to 2026 Due to ‘Longer Than Expected Timelines’

The release date for the anticipated open-world action game, Crimson Desert, developed by Pearl Abyss, has been officially delayed until the first quarter of 2026. This information was shared during a recent financial conference call, and a detailed rationale was provided alongside.

The Pearl Abyss team confirmed that their plans to present Crimson Desert at Gamescom will stay the same. Next week, gamers can experience the open-world version of the game playable at Gamescom for the first time ever. Later in September, the same demo will be accessible to players during the Tokyo Game Show.

‘Unavoidably Delayed’

Discussing the delayed release of Crimson Desert during a recent financial meeting, the Pearl Abyss team announced:

At present, Crimson Desert is undergoing voice-overs and console certification for its upcoming release. For promotional purposes, we are planning to exhibit at Gamescom and PAX West in August, demonstrating our open-world gameplay. Additionally, we will participate in the Tokyo Game Show in September to bolster our marketing initiatives within the Japanese market.

The release of our first major console game, Crimson Desert, has been postponed by three months, now expected to come out in the next quarter instead of the one previously announced. This is because the process of coordinating schedules with various partners for offline distribution, voice-overs, console certification, and other launch preparations took longer than anticipated.

We deeply regret having to inform you that we’ve encountered unforeseen circumstances which have necessitated a delay in our initial plan for a Q4 launch. Please bear with us as this tough decision has been made with the long-term goal of ensuring significant success in mind.

As an enthusiastic follower, I’m excited to share that it has been internally confirmed that Crimson Desert is slated for a release within the first quarter of 2026. Although we can anticipate a more specific launch date in the near future, it was emphasized that the official release announcement won’t be made during Gamescom. So, let’s keep our fingers crossed and stay tuned for further updates!
