Rod Fergusson, who just left Blizzard following a five-year tenure, has unveiled that he will be taking charge as the new lead of the BioShock series at 2K.
In a social media update, Fergusson announced that he’s set to lead Cloud Chamber and supervise the development of the upcoming BioShock game, as well as other franchise expansions such as the currently in production Netflix film.
As I look forward to beginning work in the upcoming weeks, I acknowledge this period of studio reorganization is challenging for everyone involved. I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the hard work that’s already been put in. I’m dedicated to creating a BioShock game that we can all be proud of and that our fans will truly enjoy.
“For now, the firehose of onboarding awaits, and I look forward to sharing more when I can.”
According to recent reports, Fergusson is now part of the team at 2K and BioShock. It seems that the development of the upcoming BioShock game faced difficulties, following an unfavorable executive review. Previous information suggested that 2K was making significant changes in the development process for the next BioShock title and reorganizing management because senior executives had expressed dissatisfaction with its progress.
That shake up now includes Fergusson as the head of the studio.
Alongside news about the latest BioShock installation, there has been word that the remake of the original game was recently put on hold due to internal company restructuring.
