As a die-hard fan of One Piece, I can’t help but marvel at how Luffy consistently demonstrates an extraordinary level of power throughout his battles! With his elastic Devil Fruit abilities, he stretches, twists, and contorts his body in ways that leave his adversaries reeling. But it’s not just about his fruit – Luffy has also picked up some impressive power-ups over the series, granting him astonishing increases in strength and resilience!
Instead, let’s express it differently: On the contrary, Luffy’s hidden power has often been evident as he’s defeated numerous powerful Marines and Pirates alike. His accomplishments have even earned him a spot among the Yonko, the four most powerful pirates in the world. Looking back at the One Piece saga, there are several instances where Luffy unleashed his full potential, with these examples standing out for their lasting impression and influence during that period.
One-Shotting Bellamy
Luffy Shuts Bellamy Up With One Quick Strike
- Episode: 151
Bellamy, unfortunately, isn’t known for his sharp intellect among pirates. His habit of speaking impulsively without considering the repercussions often leads him to embarrassment when encountering new adversaries. Luffy was no exception to this pattern. Upon the Straw Hat crew’s arrival on Jaya, Bellamy began to taunt and belittle Luffy in an attempt to impress his own crew. However, Luffy swiftly proved his mettle by delivering a single punch that brought Bellamy back down to earth.
In the thrilling tale, I couldn’t help but marvel at my own growth as Luffy! By then, I’d already knocked out powerhouses like Arlong and Crocodile, but when I effortlessly handled another formidable pirate, it was truly a sight to behold! Admittedly, I did manage to dispatch Bellamy swiftly during the Dressrosa arc, yet our encounter in Jaya left an indelible mark on countless fans.
Tankman
A Secret Form Of Gear 4 Was Randomly Revealed When Luffy Needed It Most
- Episode: 806
In the series, Tankman is among Luffy’s most peculiar transformations. Although it’s evidently powerful, particularly in terms of defense, we’ve only witnessed Luffy utilizing it once during the Whole Cake Island arc. Faced with Cracker and his biscuit troops, Luffy chose to unleash this colossal form for a strategic reason – to provide his stomach ample space to devour all of Cracker’s treats in one go.
In just a few swift seconds, Luffy managed to disable Cracker’s powers granted by his Devil Fruit. Not only that, but he effortlessly dodged Cracker’s attacks as if they were insignificant, all thanks to his body being fortified with Haki. It’s worth mentioning that Cracker is a high-ranking member of Big Mom’s crew, known as the Sweet Commanders, making him a formidable adversary. Luffy’s quick display of a resilient new form to subdue Cracker suggests he could soon rise to the level of a Yonko.
Defeating Rob Lucci
Despite His Body Being At Its Limit, Luffy Unleashes One Final Barrage Of Punches
- Episode: 302
At the start of the Water 7 storyline, Luffy and Zoro experienced a devastating embarrassment at the hands of Rob Lucci, who was unmasked as a marine operative in disguise. Recognizing that defeating Lucci was crucial for Robin’s rescue, Luffy dedicated himself to intense training, aiming to build the necessary strength to confront CP-9 and especially their commander.
In their ultimate encounter, Lucci appears poised to replicate their initial clash, employing his distinct fighting technique to overwhelm Luffy and bring him perilously close to death. Yet, in a last-ditch effort, Luffy engages Gear 3, growing his limbs enormously and unleashing a powerful Jet Gatling Gun barrage. With this offensive, he pummels Lucci mercilessly before sending him soaring through the tower. This victory underscores Luffy’s determination to save his comrades, as it seemed for a moment that he had been defeated, but his resilience and strength shone brightly in his ferocious counterattack.
Activating Gear 2
Luffy Knew He Had To Evolve To Take On CP-9
- Episode: 272
No lifelong fan could ever erase from memory the instant when Luffy initially triggered Gear 2 during his battle against Blueno. It’s crucial to recall that, before this moment in the narrative, Luffy hadn’t activated any transformations altering his form. Thus, it was undeniably shocking when he suddenly revealed Gear 2, catching everyone off guard, and then ultimately defeating Blueno in their encounter.
When Luffy slams his fist into the ground, releasing steam from his body, it’s one of the most spectacular moments in the series, demonstrating the immense power coursing through him. Even with Blueno putting up his best resistance, he was swiftly defeated by Luffy’s unprecedented speed and strength, thanks to his new transformation, in just a few short seconds.
Revealing Snakeman
Luffy Goes All-Out To Try And Keep Up With Katakuri’s Insane Speed
- Episode: 895
During Luffy’s daring rescue operation on Whole Cake Island, he successfully overcame numerous challenging adversaries with relative ease. However, this pattern changed dramatically when he encountered Katakuri. Equipped with the ability to foresee actions thanks to his Observation Haki, Katakuri was able to deftly evade Luffy’s attacks before they were even launched, forcing Luffy to unveil another extraordinary form of his Gear 4, boosting both his speed and strength significantly.
In simpler terms, during Snakeman form, Luffy’s design is impressive and his attack power is astonishing. His extended reach allows him to fire his arms off at high speed against walls, bouncing back so swiftly that even Katakuri found it hard to dodge. Remarkably, despite displaying numerous Gear 4 forms before, Luffy astounds fans yet again by unveiling one of the most potent versions, which is a spectacle to behold.
Knocking Out A Horde Of Fishmen
After The Timeskip, Luffy Doesn’t Even Need To Move A Muscle To Take Down His Opponents
- Episode: 554
During the Marineford War, Luffy inadvertently employed his Supreme King Haki to incapacitate a band of soldiers, unaware of its power then and lacking full command over it. However, after completing two years of tutelage under Rayleigh, Luffy learned to wield this particular Haki intentionally. He showcased this ability effectively when he rendered unconscious thousands of armed Fishmen merely by gazing at them.
Typically, Luffy overcomes his adversaries using a barrage of strong punches and kicks. However, it was absolutely astonishing to witness him subdue an army of enemies without so much as twitching a muscle. This display left even Zoro and Sanji, both incredibly potent in their own right, stunned. Luffy’s mastery of Haki remains one of the most awe-inspiring demonstrations of power and strength throughout the entire series.
Using Gear 4 Against Doflamingo
Luffy Steps Up A Gear And Becomes A Destructive Powerhouse
- Episode: 725
By the time I reached Dressrosa, Luffy had squared off against several Warlords before. However, it was clear that Doflamingo operated on an entirely different plane. With his String-String Fruit abilities, evading and even harming Doflamingo proved to be a difficult task, a challenge that seemed more like a theoretical concept than something achievable. In fact, it got to the point where Luffy found himself needing to utilize his most advanced form yet – Gear 4.
In essence, during this form, Luffy becomes a colossal force, his Haki-coated arms becoming devastatingly powerful, capable of knocking out anyone who challenges him. His Gatling techniques further amplify this might, and he can leap around using spring-like legs to dodge and counterattack swiftly. So swiftly, in fact, that even the formidable Doflamingo was left standing after their encounter, with Luffy’s peak form and subsequent assault serving as a remarkable demonstration of his newfound strength, a moment etched deeply into the memories of all who witnessed it.
Entering Gear 5
Luffy Finally Reaches God-Like Status
- Episode: 1071
Throughout the Yonko saga, a common query among many was how Luffy might manage to overpower Kaido, given that Kaido was renowned as the strongest creature in the world. His victories against Luffy during the Wano arc made some question if Luffy was capable of the task at all. Fortunately, Luffy had one final trick up his sleeve to vanquish Kaido for good, even though it wasn’t a surprise that would have been anticipated by anyone.
In a thrilling display, Luffy’s spirit pulsing like tribal drums and his breath exuding white mist, awakens the untapped might of his Devil Fruit, transforming into Gear 5. In this form, his surroundings morph into a whimsical playground, even affecting powerful figures like Kaido, who he humiliates by swinging him around and slamming him into the ground repeatedly. The spectacular demonstration of power associated with the Sun God Nika’s Devil Fruit suggests Luffy’s rightful claim to Yonko status, a spectacle that will undoubtedly be etched in the annals of anime history.
