Fans of anime often struggle to let go after watching an exceptional series, and Solo Leveling is undoubtedly a testament to this. The show’s captivating narrative about the protagonist’s transformation from ordinary to divine, coupled with his stylish victories in every fight, leaves audiences yearning for stories as entertaining and intense. Regrettably, it has been weeks since a new episode of Solo Leveling was released.
The second season of Solo Leveling concluded with a bang, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the third season. Yet, as of now, Season 3 has yet to be confirmed, causing fans to search diligently for a worthy anime to watch post-Solo Leveling. Unlike other lists that primarily feature mainstream titles, this one handpicks lesser-known shows that are certain to resonate with Solo Leveling enthusiasts.
7. Noblesse
Sung Jin-Woo and Rai Are Silent and Stoic Heroes
Prior to the anime adaptation of Sung Jin-Woo’s ascension to power, Cadis Etrama Di Raizel, the noble vampire from Noblesse, served as one of the initial Korean comic book characters possessing eternal or almost eternal abilities.
In a different phrasing: The principal character of Noblesse, Cadis Etrama Di Raizel, popularly known as Rai, showcases combat finesse that can match Jin-Woo’s. He stands out not only for his grace and composure but also for his immense power, earning him the ability to amass tens or even hundreds of millions of aura points effortlessly. Additionally, Rai fits the description of an “ikemen,” a term referring to visually attractive anime characters who have a duty to safeguard their most cherished possessions above all else.
From this window, I can see the vast blue sky, the lush forest, and the great expanse of the earth. All that’s required for me is this breathtaking view. Yet, your homemade tea remains a delightful addition to my simple contentment.
In contrast to Noblesse’s massive battles, they might evoke memories of Jin-Woo’s intense clashes for fans of Solo Leveling. Unlike Jin-Woo who faces magical beasts, hunters, and higher entities in Solo Leveling, Rai grapples with corrupted humans and vampire nobles instead.
6. Viral Hit
Offers a Good Underdog Story

Similar to Solo Leveling and Noblesse, Viral Hit hails from South Korea. It’s a highly acclaimed webtoon within the country, and it gained popularity before Solo Leveling did. Anime producers took notice of it ahead of Solo Leveling.
Just like Solo Leveling, Viral Hit shares the commonality of an underdog protagonist who gradually becomes more powerful, albeit not as overwhelmingly so as Sung Jin-Woo. Unlike a typical power fantasy anime, Viral Hit doesn’t lean heavily into this aspect, but it does share with Solo Leveling a focus on the progressive development of its main character throughout each episode, providing fans with a satisfying growth arc.
Being an adult is so hard and painful that I wish nobody had to grow up.—Yoo Hobin
In simpler terms, much like how Solo Leveling uses a system to shape Jin-Woo’s journey, Viral Hit employs social media as the catalyst propelling Yoo Hobin towards success and recognition in a contemporary, high-pressure environment where he battles for his position.
5. Tower of God
Power Progression by Trials
Without a doubt, any comprehensive anime list should include Tower of God – a highly acclaimed webtoon-turned-anime that’s gaining popularity today. The story revolves around Sung Jin-Woo, a character who initially appears weak but transforms into a powerful figure through a process of trials. What sets Tower of God apart is the fact that instead of progressing through levels like our protagonist in Solo Leveling, Bam must literally climb the Tower’s floors to achieve his goals. If you remember the Demon Castle arc from Solo Leveling, where Jin-Woo also ascended floor by floor while watching Tower of God, you may spot some striking similarities quite easily.
I want to become stronger. So I don’t have to say goodbye.—Bam
Moreover, Tower of God features visually captivating action sequences, though opinions on the animation and art style remain varied among viewers. Similar to Solo Leveling, Tower of God shares a sense of intrigue surrounding the protagonist’s enigmatic background and emerging abilities. However, unlike Solo Leveling, which primarily centers on Jin-Woo, Tower of God boasts a diverse group of characters rather than just one.
4. Lookism
Transformation as Core Theme

Among the numerous anime adapted from webtoons discussed in this piece, overlooking Lookism following a view of Solo Levelling would be quite unfortunate. Similar to Solo Levelling, it boasts a large fanbase, centering around an underdog protagonist who experiences significant change.
Daniel Park, also known as Park Hyung-Suk, was once an outcast, frequently bullied due to his weight issues and challenging living circumstances. However, an enigmatic event significantly improved his life. From that point forward, Daniel leads a dual existence, consistently overcoming hurdles, until he earns recognition from his peers. In many ways, his narrative mirrors Jin-Woo’s arduous journey, transforming from the weakest hunter to the strongest hero, admired and respected by his fellow hunters.
3. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
For Flashy, Brutal Fights
Instead of immediately thinking about anime like Solo Leveling when considering shows to watch next, it would be beneficial for fans to make a point of watching Cyberpunk: Edgerunners as soon as possible before Season 2 arrives. This series shares similarities with Solo Leveling in terms of intense fight scenes, troubled main characters, power dynamics, and the repercussions of these elements, making it a must-see for fans.
In addition, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners consistently delivers intense and violent battles, as David Martinez employs cybernetic upgrades, albeit at the expense of his life. The narrative portrays David Martinez’s journey, transforming from a homeless street kid to an iconic figure in Night City, as both empowering and heart-wrenching account of resilience.
David’s rise to power mirrors that of Jin-Woo, driven by the hardship that befall his mother. With each passing day, his cybernetic enhancements erode his human essence in Night City, much like how Jin-Woo feels he is losing his humanity with every level up.
2. Ranking of Kings
Defying Fate and Redefining Strength

The animated series titled “Ranking of Kings” premiered during fall 2021, yet continues to captivate audiences due to its striking visual aesthetic, endearing and relatable protagonist, as well as its deep emotional resonance. It also stands out by flipping traditional fantasy storytelling on its head, questioning the stereotypes of the quintessential heroic figure and formidable villain in fantasy anime.
Although Ranking of Kings appears distinct from Solo Leveling, both stories share a common thread: their protagonists rise above adversity, transcending their initial weaknesses. Just like Sung Jin-Woo, Bojji, despite his disability, challenges and overcomes the expectations set for him as powerless and unfit to rule. Similarly, Jin-Woo demonstrated his strength by absorbing the System, and in a parallel fashion, Bojji also redefines power through training and determination.
In Ranking of Kings, much like with Solo Leveling, the payoff could be equally rewarding and gratifying. Both stories share a parallel theme where Bojji strives to disprove his detractors, similar to how Jin-Woo tirelessly pursues the pinnacle.
1. Gachiakuta
Corrupt Society and a Dangerous World
In a world like no other, I find myself immersed in Gachiakuta – a realm teeming with garbage monstrosities and a constant battle between Rudo, our relentless protagonist, and the oppressive elite. Unlike Solo Leveling’s menacing Gate-spawned creatures and warring Higher Beings, this dark dystopia pits Rudo against living embodiments of waste, as if trash had a mind of its own.
On top of that, Gachiakuta mirrors a society divided into the haves and have-nots, with Rudo fighting not just the monsters, but also the corrupt system that keeps the poor oppressed. It’s an exhilarating journey that leaves me on the edge of my seat!
Currently, Gachiakuta is continuously airing and appears to be the standout anime of the year thus far. The response to this anime has been largely favorable, with numerous fans praising its visual aesthetics and character development. Although it may not be the top anime of the summer season, it demonstrates promising potential. Similar to Jin-Woo from Solo Leveling, Rudo in Gachiakuta was initially an underdog before acquiring world-altering abilities.
