September 10 is Going to Be a Big Day for Dune: Awakening Fans

The game “Dune: Awakening” will be expanding its tale with a complimentary Chapter 2 update and an additional paid DLC, titled “The Lost Harvest,” slated for release on September 10th. This new content is particularly intended for players of the survival game “Dune: Awakening” who have already completed the initial story chapter.

Since its launch in June, “Dune: Awakening” has achieved unprecedented success, drawing in tens of thousands of players on Steam. In response to player feedback, its developer, Funcom, has made several updates over a short period to boost engagement. Towards the end of July, this Dune-inspired multiplayer game held an in-game event that reached a high of 72K concurrent users on Steam at one point. Now, it appears that the Norwegian studio has big and exciting plans for September.

Dune: Awakening Getting a Free Story Update and a Paid DLC Soon

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about my favorite game, Dune: Awakening! Funcom has unveiled a major plan for our content experience. Starting September 10, we can expect two substantial story expansions. Firstly, we’ll receive the sequel to the base game’s narrative, offered free as Chapter 2 update. This update brings new characters, locations, contracts, dynamic encounters, archetype armors, and even character re-customization options!

At the same time, the first expansion, The Lost Harvest, is set to launch for $12.99 (but free for Season Pass owners). In this DLC, players will embark on a standalone story mission, where we’re tasked with tracking down a Miner’s Guild spice harvester that mysteriously went missing en route.

The expansion also includes a brand-new upgradable vehicle called the Treadwheel, the Dune Man Building Set, and various cosmetic options for weapons, armor, and vehicles. Can’t wait to dive in!

Prior to the upcoming release of the “Dune: Awakening” update, its developer is preparing to implement several changes. One such change is a new conflict that aims to bridge the gap between the current version of the game and the major update.

For those who are undecided about the game, there’s some positive news! The developers are offering a free demo for 10 hours, available until August 24. Notably, any progress made during this demo period and owned content will be transferred to the full game once it is purchased.

At a crucial moment for Dune: Awakening, when its Steam reviews have dropped to “Mixed” due to split player opinions, a significant update was recently announced. The decline in positive user ratings began mid-July, mainly due to complaints about the game’s PvP experience, particularly towards the end of the campaign. It remains intriguing whether these new updates can rectify this situation and regain support from the players.
