This post contains spoilers for One Piece.
In Episode 1140 of One Piece, the Marines attempted to restrain Luffy with sea stone handcuffs. They assumed that as a Yonko, Luffy was too weakened to pose a threat, providing an ideal moment for their capture. However, Luffy had anticipated this move and consumed his food rapidly. Utilizing his Gear 5th ability, he overpowered them instead.
Elsewhere, Sanji and Vegapunk were working hard to save Bonney and Kuma from imminent destruction. Vegapunk reached out to Atlas and requested her to inform Bonney about their backup plan. Without delay, Atlas informed Bonney, who immediately shouted out loud, urging the Pacifista to halt. It was then unveiled that Vegapunk had installed a mechanism within the Pacifistas, designed to safeguard Bonney.
Luffy Finally Returns In One Piece Episode 1140
Following the Pacifista wreaking havoc on Marine ships, Saturn suspected Vegapunk’s involvement and retaliated by impaling him with one of his limbs. Subsequently, the Godhead commanded Kizaru to eliminate Bonney and Kuma. Sanji attempted to intervene, but Kizaru was already a step ahead. The situation seemed dire until Luffy attacked Kizaru, sending him flying. Upon his reappearance, Luffy’s arrival was signaled by the resounding beat of the Drums of Liberation, which Bonney recognized as Nika, the Warrior of Liberation, there to save her. The rhythm pulsating from Luffy’s heartbeat ignited the Iron Giant’s eyes.
Near the closing stages of the episode, Dorry and Brogy reappeared. As captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates, they journeyed to Egghead Island due to Luffy. Recognizing Luffy’s significance, they felt compelled to intervene as the World Government attempted to eliminate him.
In a nutshell, One Piece Episode 1140 wasn’t flawless and there are aspects that Toei Animation needs to refine. The portrayal of Bonney witnessing Nika for the first time was less than satisfactory. Moreover, certain Sanji-centric scenes appeared to have been altered without a clear justification. Here’s hoping they exercise greater caution in their future work.
