The popularity of PlayStation Plus, a service offered by Sony in competition with Xbox Game Pass, continues to expand every month, demonstrating Sony’s dedication to this gaming platform. Don’t Forget to Grab PlayStation Plus Essential’s Free September 2025 Games
As we enter a brand-new month, don’t forget to include the September 2025 PlayStation Plus Essential games in your collection once they become available on the 2nd.
- Psychonauts 2
- Stardew Valley
- Viewfinder
The upcoming month of September promises to be another fantastic one for the Essential tier. Stardew Valley, widely recognized as one of the best cozy/life simulation games ever created, will undoubtedly be a highlight. For those seeking a more structured, puzzle-oriented gameplay experience, the indie title Viewfinder is an excellent choice. Last but certainly not least, Psychonauts 2, the long-awaited sequel to Double Fine’s 2005 classic, has been lauded by both critics and audiences alike. Each of these three PS Plus Essential games for September stands out on its own merit, making it worth your while to check them all out.
Risk of Rain 2
Available on PS Plus Extra
Risk of Rain 2 provides intelligent, impactful progression systems, and with most enhancements offering substantial stack limits, it becomes relatively straightforward to exploit the game once you’ve got the hang of it. To top it off, its soundtrack is one of the best from the last ten years, making it definitely worth a spin.
- How long to beat Risk of Rain 2: around 11 hours to roll credits, but it can take up to 150 hours to uncover all characters, abilities, and side objectives.
Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection
Available on PS Plus Extra
For those who know me well, it’s common knowledge that I’m not particularly fond of the Assassin’s Creed series. However, before I consider the series to be effectively concluded, there were the Ezio games that truly shone, exhibiting numerous impressive aspects.
The allure of the Ezio-led Assassin’s Creed trilogy (Assassin’s Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed Revelation) is primarily due to their charm. Although they have flaws that later plagued the franchise, Ezio’s narrative journey stands out for being engaging, captivating, and above all, well-connected. The earlier games exude a sense of hunger, ambition, and determination, with their strengths and weaknesses reflecting a strong creative impulse. In contrast, more recent entries seem to be marred by commercial considerations, servicing fans, and an unending desire to keep the series going.
- How long to beat Assassin’s Creed 2: 20โ35 hours.
- How long to beat Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood: 15โ40 hours.
- How long to beat Assassin’s Creed Revelations: 12โ35 hours.
Hotline Miami
Available on PS Plus Extra
I’m quite fond of challenging games, and “Hotline Miami” has always pushed me to my limits. The difficulty level in this game is intense, to say the least! The formula is further developed in “Hotline Miami: Wrong Number,” but if you’re seeking a raw, heart-pounding combat experience, you should definitely try the original. Each level is like setting off a chain reaction: once you make your first move, everything else happens at lightning speed, forcing you to think quickly on your feet to avoid being killed instantly. It’s quite a tough nut to crack, but the sense of accomplishment when you succeed is well worth it. And to top it all off, it’s got a sleek, gritty aesthetic inspired by VHS tapes and an amazing soundtrack that really sets the mood.
- How long to beat Hotline Miami: 5โ15 hours.
