007 First Light team has recently disclosed that they utilized Daniel Craig’s likeness for Agent 47 in promoting their game. As a devoted fan, I can’t help but be thrilled by this news!
007 First Light unveiled its first gameplay during the State of Play event yesterday, also announcing its release date. Ever since, gamers have been forming their own opinions about the game, and the developers themselves have clarified that it’s not a re-skin of Hitman. Now, fresh details are emerging on how Daniel Craig’s likeness was incorporated in the pitch for 007 First Light.
007 First Light Was Pitched with Daniel Craig’s Head on Agent 47
During an interview with IGN, the CEO of IOI, Hakan Abrak, revealed that in a demonstration of 007 First Light, Daniel Craig’s head was digitally placed onto Agent 47 and inserted into the World of Assassination. Abrak explained that for the demo, they created a digital version of Craig’s head to replace Agent 47, offering a glimpse into what IO games’ “living, breathing spaces” might look like with real-life actors.
Abrak notes that those players who recognize the level named “Sapienza with the virus in the underground caves beneath the facility,” should understand that certain aspects were revealed there, and they were met with a positive response. The CEO clarified that the intention was to illustrate this as an all-encompassing experience, which goes beyond gunfire and cinematics, to delve into the “Bond Fantasy” by immersing the character in social settings where he must employ his wit and charm rather than rely on physical force.
Abrak disclosed that this project was their initial foray into creating something beyond unique worlds and characters. They felt it crucial to leave their distinctive creative mark on it. What they weren’t keen on was “turning a film into a game based solely on points, or perhaps focusing merely on technical skills, like enhancing Pierce Brosnan’s pixels, for instance, or simply replicating specific scenes from a movie in gaming and showcasing them.
Rather than developing a game for everyone, the creators aim to design an authentic “gamer’s game,” offering players a pre-fame Bond adventure where they can witness Bond before he became the globally renowned secret agent, as he navigates through his initial spy training.
