As a thrilled gaming enthusiast, I’ve stumbled upon some intriguing footage online that seems to be from Battlefield 6, focusing on the captivating New Sobek City map. This leak provides one of the most detailed glimpses yet into the heart of the action we can expect from Battlefield 6. It offers a tantalizing sneak peek at the intense, dynamic gameplay the map will offer.
Among the nine initial battlefields for Battlefield 6, Sobek City is one that wasn’t showcased during the early beta phases. These early tests only highlighted the Iberian Offensive, Liberation Peak, Siege of Cairo, and Empire State maps.
Battlefield 6 New Sobek City Gameplay Appears on YouTube
On September 6, footage from Sobek City emerged on YouTube, shared by ErsinFPS. The thirteen-minute video showcases an infantry battalion moving forward with some hefty vehicles, suggesting a scenario reminiscent of a Breakthrough setting. Breakthrough is a multiplayer mode in the Battlefield 6 game series, which has been featured in the most recent three mainline releases. This mode offers larger maps and divides players into two teams, each consisting of more than thirty members, with roles assigned as attackers or defenders.
Historically, Breakthrough maps have ranged from moderately-sized to expansive settings. In contrast, it appears that New Sobek City’s map will lean towards the smaller side compared to tradition. However, recent leaks hint that this level could be broader than the Liberation Peak map from the Battlefield 6 open beta. Similar to other Breakthrough maps, urban combat will take center stage in New Sobek City, with vehicles serving a secondary function and the gameplay generally progressing in a somewhat predictable manner.
The earlier portrayal of New Sobek City by EA depicted it as a war-like construction zone on the periphery of Cairo, surrounded by substantial sand dunes. The recently surfaced video footage aligns with this depiction, showcasing a dusty construction area filled with several building sites and plazas, implying numerous possible entry points for both armored and infantry units.
A notable detail from the video is that when vehicles are hit, they display evident damage specific to their location, such as flapping doors and loose panels after an RPG strike. Although enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating this feature’s return, the complete extent of the destruction system in _Battlefield 6_ cannot be determined solely based on this clip.
The seemingly leaked video suggests it was recorded on a local server using automated programs, or bots. If this footage is indicative of the finished product, New Sobek City will serve as a multidisciplinary battlefield, featuring concealed spots for foot soldiers to progress, expansive roads for tanks, and ample space for helicopters above. The size of the arid map compared to the other eight levels at launch is yet to be revealed. Battlefield 6 releases on October 10 for PC and current-generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
