In Hollow Knight: Silksong, players are plunged into a vast world divided into distinct zones, each boasting unique ecosystems and narratives. Among these zones, Shellwood is one that players will encounter towards the end of Act One. To access Shellwood, however, gamers must navigate through the Far Fields and conquer a formidable boss battle in Greymoor first. Here’s a comprehensive walkthrough to assist you in reaching Shellwood and discovering its map.
How to Reach Shellwood in Silksong
In order to get to Shellwood within the game Silksong, players must advance through the expanses known as the Far Fields and make it to Greymoor. To harness the wind currents for an escape from the Far Fields, players need to acquire the Drifter’s Cloak (which gives the Float ability) by successfully completing the Flexile Spines quest.
After they gain the necessary skills, make your way to Far Fields’ central cave (indicated above) and harness the wind currents to ascend to the surface.
Upon entering Greymoor, players can easily obtain a map of the region by venturing straight from the entrance and buying it from Shakra. With a map in hand to navigate Greymoor more efficiently, continue moving left past the Halfway Home inn. The inn’s entrance will be blocked, so you’ll need to scale the building and access the area on the other side.
Following your journey through narrow caves and expanses filled with Crawbugs, you’ll ultimately find yourself in an open space where a battle with the boss, Moorwing, awaits.
The battle with the boss is quite challenging, but victory will open up the path for you to advance westwards towards the Haunted Bellhart region. Although there’s an essential mission waiting for you there, you can momentarily bypass it and continue your journey westward instead.
Once the cinematic scene wraps up, you can easily dash past the creepy insects hanging around Bellhart and keep moving westwards. Before long, you’ll find yourself right in Shellwood.
Where to Find the Map for Shellwood in Silksong?
Once you’ve reached Shellwood within Silksong, it’s advisable to acquire a map to facilitate your travel. Continue moving westward, surpassing the marshy expanse, and begin ascending gradually to progressively higher elevations. This will lead you towards the next section of Shellwood (the doorway located at the top-left).
As you step into a gloomy cave, a sudden surprise awaits on the lower level – you’ll find yourself surrounded by swarming insects requiring swift action to defeat them.
After defeating all the bugs, make your way upwards to reach the higher region, and exit through the path on the left. There, you’ll find an elevator-like cage that will take you to the lower part of the area. Once you’ve descended, step on the button located on your right side to open a quick route back to the main area.
As you continue your journey, veer to the left past the marshy region and move into the following area. That’s where you’ll encounter Shakra, who carries the Bellhart and Shellwood map within her gifts. With this newfound knowledge, you’ll be able to roam freely through the verdant expanse of Shellwood. Afterward, return to Bellhart to relieve its inhabitants from the curse in “Silksong”.
