Although Nintendo launched the Switch 2 on June 5, their original 2017 hybrid console continues to receive new games, such as POPUCOM.)
On September 12, I was thoroughly excited to tune in for Nintendo’s latest Direct presentation! Although they’ve been rolling out content post-Switch 2 launch, this September Nintendo Direct was something special – a full 60 minutes jam-packed with exciting updates. The buzz surrounding announcements like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has been deafening, but there’s also a host of intriguing titles from third-party developers that have caught my gaming eye.
POPUCOM Gets Holiday 2025 Release Window for Switch
In September 2025’s Nintendo Direct event, a trailer was unveiled for the upcoming game titled POPUCOM, with the announcement that it would be released during the holiday season of the same year on Switch. Developed by Hypergryph and published by Gryph Frontier, this multiplayer co-op game offers an appealing blend of platforming and puzzles set in a vibrant world where colors play a crucial role. The puzzles in POPUCOM require players to switch between two colors of Pomu gel while shooting from their gun, adding a layer of strategy and urgency during gameplay. Additionally, the game includes super artifacts that grant players unique abilities to aid in progression. Apart from platforming and puzzle segments, POPUCOM offers battles against various bosses, as well as a two-player story mode and Party Mode for up to four players.
The game called POPUCOM has garnered positive feedback from PC players, boasting a “Very Positive” overall rating on Steam. Given its vibrant art style, which bears resemblance to Splatoon, it seems suited for the Nintendo Switch. Moreover, POPUCOM offers local multiplayer co-op play, ideal for enjoying with friends. Notably, this game is exclusively designed for multiple players. As of now, the price for the Switch version remains undisclosed. However, on Steam and the Epic Games Store, the standard and “Too Many Clothes Edition” retail at $19.99 and $24.99 respectively. Given these prices, it can be anticipated that the Switch version could follow a similar pricing scheme.

As POPUCOM enthusiasts eagerly anticipate its Switch release date, the latest Nintendo Direct offers insights into other games set to launch on the 2017 console. For instance, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is slated for Spring 2026, providing a clearer timeline for fans excited about the next installment in this whimsical series. Here’s hoping that POPUCOM’s release date will be announced shortly, so those intrigued by its multiplayer co-op platform adventure can start planning their purchases accordingly.
