Fans of *Battlefield 1* should note that the popular first-person shooter will soon be removed from PlayStation Plus. Released in 2016, *Battlefield 1* was a huge hit for DICE and EA, selling over 15 million copies and receiving generally positive reviews. It has continued to be a well-played game in the series, even after the release of newer titles like *Battlefield V* and *Battlefield 2042*.
Battlefield 1 was a refreshing departure for the series, taking players back to World War 1. It delivered a thrilling single-player story and the classic Battlefield multiplayer action, all with impressive graphics that still look great today. While PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members have been able to play Battlefield 1 for a while, it will soon be leaving the service.
Battlefield 1 is Leaving PS Plus Soon
On October 21st, *Battlefield 1* will no longer be available on PS Plus Extra. It’s one of four games leaving the service that day, along with *Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed*, *Tour de France 2023*, and *The Last Clockwinder*. Many PS Plus subscribers will likely be most disappointed to see *Battlefield 1* go.
Battlefield 6 May Spell the End for BF1
With *Battlefield 1* leaving PlayStation Plus and the new *Battlefield 6* on the horizon, many fans are preparing to move on. Previous installments, *Battlefield V* and *Battlefield 2042*, weren’t well-received, which kept players coming back to *Battlefield 1*. However, there’s a lot of excitement surrounding *Battlefield 6*, and if it delivers on the hype, it could significantly reduce the number of players still enjoying *Battlefield 1* and other older *Battlefield* games. Once the new game launches and proves popular, it will likely be difficult for *Battlefield 1* to maintain the large player base it has seen in the past.
Although EA hasn’t officially said they’re shutting down *Battlefield 1*, it’s likely to happen eventually, as they regularly discontinue support for older games, including *Battlefield* titles. If players move from *Battlefield 1* to the newer *Battlefield 6*, that shutdown could happen sooner. For PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, now is a good time to enjoy *Battlefield 1* because it will be removed from the service on October 21st.
