There’s a rumor going around about a new State of Play event happening this week, and if it’s true, it sounds like Sony might announce the October games during the broadcast. That would be awesome because it means we’d know about a week earlier than normal – usually, we have to wait much longer!
To play games online with your PlayStation 4 or PS5, you need a PlayStation Plus subscription. This subscription also gets you a few free games each month. You can play these games as long as you keep your PS Plus membership active at the same level you used to get them. While most free games are available with the basic ‘Essential’ plan, some, like *Bomb Rush Cyberfunk* and *No More Heroes 3*, require the ‘Extra’ or ‘Premium’ plans. The free games change every month, so don’t wait too long to download the ones you want!
The October 2025 PS Plus Lineup Could Appear During a Potential State of Play
PlayStation Plus subscribers typically find out which free games are coming next at the beginning of each month. However, a possible PlayStation “State of Play” event could change that for October 2025. If the event happens during the last week of September, Sony might reveal the free PS Plus games a bit earlier than usual. There’s also talk that Insomniac Games’ *Marvel’s Wolverine*-which hasn’t been shown publicly since 2021-could reappear during the event.
As of today, Sony hasn’t confirmed whether or when they’ll hold another State of Play presentation, so rumors should be viewed with skepticism. However, it’s not unusual for Sony to announce some of the free PlayStation Plus games a little early. For example, during a State of Play on September 24, 2024, they revealed three games for the October 2024 PS Plus lineup a week before the normal announcement. These included *Dead Space*, *WWE 2K24*, and *Doki Doki Literature Club Plus*, which were all immediately available to PS Plus subscribers.
As a PlayStation Plus subscriber, I’m already starting to wonder what games will be added in October 2025! October is usually a great month for spooky horror titles, but honestly, Sony hasn’t revealed anything yet about what they’re planning for the next batch of free games. We’ll just have to wait and see what they decide to include!
