The creative director for *Borderlands 4* shared that the team is prioritizing improvements to gear and abilities over weakening strong character builds. This is common in games with skill trees and classes like *Borderlands 4*, where players often try to find the most effective and damaging combinations.
Players are quickly discovering the strongest characters and skill trees in *Borderlands 4*. Vex and Rafa are popular choices, with Vex benefiting from the Bloodletter skill and Rafa from the Peacerkeeper cannons. One player even created a Rafa build so effective they can defeat enemies without firing a weapon! While these powerful builds are enjoyable, Gearbox has announced they’ll be addressing them in upcoming updates.
Borderlands 4 Focusing on Buffing Classes First
Graeme Timmins, Creative Director for *Borderlands 4*, recently shared some information about upcoming game updates. While the team has already improved the game’s performance, the next update will focus on making weaker weapons and abilities more useful, instead of immediately reducing the power of strong ones. Timmins also confirmed they’re aware of some particularly powerful combinations of skills and items, like builds using throwing knives with the Penetrator Augment, and are looking into them.
There’s been a lot of discussion about whether Gearbox will adjust some of the most powerful character builds in *Borderlands 4*. The Siren character, Vex, is currently considered top-tier due to a build focused on causing bleed damage, which allows players to defeat enemies very easily. Gearbox plans to address these overpowered builds, meaning they’ll likely change things that aren’t working as originally intended. While players might not be happy about these changes, Gearbox isn’t rushing to implement them. They’re letting players enjoy these strong builds while they focus on fixing less popular skills first.
Recently, the creative director for Borderlands 4, Timmins, has been engaging with fans on social media, answering questions and sharing details about the game. He’s also acknowledged a popular glitch called ‘Cricket Jumping.’ While players are hoping it stays in the game, Timmins confirmed the team is monitoring it. Currently, there are no plans to fix it, but Gearbox may need to act if the glitch causes problems with game stability or negatively impacts players, particularly when playing with others.
