Following the huge success of its first season, *Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End* has been renewed for a second! Fans were excited to hear the news, knowing they’d get to see more of their favorite characters. Originally, the second season was slated for January 2026, but a specific release date hadn’t been announced-until now.
Frieren Season 2 Release Date Is Confirmed
Frieren Season 2 Premieres In January 2026
- Frieren Season 2 will be spectacular
- Season 1 broke many records
Frieren Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on January 16, 2026. While the total number of episodes hasn’t been announced yet, it’s likely to be similar to the first season, potentially split into two parts. Splitting seasons into multiple parts is becoming increasingly common in anime, allowing studios time to address any problems and improve the show.
It’s highly unlikely there will be any problems with the production of Frieren Season 2, thanks to the involvement of the acclaimed studio Madhouse. They have an exceptional track record and consistently deliver high-quality anime that audiences love.
Frieren Season 2 Could Win Anime Of The Year Award

Frieren’s first season was a strong contender for Anime of the Year, but ultimately lost to Solo Leveling. While many viewers felt Frieren was the superior show – boasting a more compelling story and memorable characters – the results disappointed them. In fact, Frieren even surpassed Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood in ratings on the popular anime database, MyAnimeList.
I’m really excited about the possibility of a second season of Frieren! It’s going to be tough though, because it’ll be up against some HUGE anime like the third season of Jujutsu Kaisen, another season of Oshi no Ko, Hell’s Paradise Season 2, and even Steel Ball Run. There’s a lot of competition, but I’m hoping Frieren can still shine!

As a huge anime fan, I’m really excited about this year’s Anime of the Year race! While there are a lot of great contenders, I think Jujutsu Kaisen and Steel Ball Run are the biggest threats to Frieren taking the crown. Jujutsu Kaisen has been off the air for three years, so everyone’s incredibly hyped for its return, and that buzz could really carry it to victory.
Meanwhile, the manga Steel Ball Run concluded in the 2000s, so fans have eagerly anticipated an anime version for quite some time. With the anime now officially confirmed, they’re thrilled to finally see it come to life.
Frieren is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
