The new Magic: The Gathering set featuring Spider-Man has launched despite some pre-release issues and lower-than-expected attendance at early events. Wizards of the Coast is responding by announcing plans for the rest of 2025 and a complete schedule for 2026. A common complaint about MTG releases has been that new sets, special releases, and collaborations are announced so quickly that fans don’t have much time to enjoy each one before the next arrives. To illustrate, over 20 cards from the upcoming ‘Lorwyn Eclipsed’ set (releasing in four months) were revealed yesterday, even while the ‘Avatar’ set is still being released.
There were several exciting announcements yesterday regarding Magic: The Gathering. Wizards of the Coast revealed plans for multiple Secret Lair collaborations, some arriving as early as October 2025, and outlined the major set releases for 2026. The upcoming content is diverse, meaning fans might soon see cards featuring their favorite characters and themes from other popular franchises.

Every Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair Drop Confirmed So Far
Several Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair releases are planned for October 2025, with another hinted at recently on Twitter. Most will be available through a Superdrop on October 13th, and a special collaboration with PlayStation is scheduled for October 27th.
MTG x Secret Lair – Artist Series: Kieran Yenner
- Armageddon
- Demonic Tutor
- Lord of the Pit
- Northern Paladin
Let me tell you, this Secret Lair drop is a steal! It’ll run you $29.99 for the standard cards or $39.99 if you want the shiny foil versions. And honestly, just the inclusion of Demonic Tutor – which normally costs around $50 or more on its own – almost makes the whole thing worth it. Now, they also included Armageddon, which is a pretty brutal card that destroys everyone’s lands in *Magic: The Gathering*. The artwork is fantastic, but be warned – your playgroup might not be thrilled if you actually use it!
MTG x Secret Lair – Jaws: Terror of Amity Island
- Jaws, Relentless Predator
- Panic on Amity Island (reprint of Descend into Avernus)
- Reckless Endeavor
- Sneak Attack
- You’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat (reprint of Abrade)
- Blood Token
This LEGO set is inspired by the movie *Jaws* and costs either $39.99 or $49.99 for the limited edition foil version. Most of the included cards are one-of-a-kind, with only two reprints and one token. Plus, the card ‘Abrade’ is frequently used in popular *Magic: The Gathering* decks.
MTG x Secret Lair – The Office: Dwight’s Destiny
- Dwight Schrute, Hay King (reprint of Heliod, Sun-Crowned)
- Dwight’s Weapon Stash (reprint of Steelshaper’s Gift)
- Swords to Plowshares
- Dwight, Assistant (to the) King (reprint of Baral, Chief of Compliance)
- Recyclops, Eco-friendly // Recyclops, Nature’s Vengeance (reprint of Garruk Relentless // Garruk, the Veil-Cursed)
- Dwight o’ Lantern (reprint of Reaper King)
This collection is inspired by Dwight Schrute from the TV show *The Office*. It’s available for $29.99, or a special foil edition for $39.99.
MTG x Secret Lair – Dreaming Darkly
- Glen Elendra Archmage
- Guardian Project
- Roon of the Hidden Realm
- Soulherder
The drop costs $29.99 for the regular version or $39.99 for the foil one.

MTG x Secret Lair – Trick or Treat

MTG x Secret Lair – Furby: Doo-ay Noo-lah
- Chromatic Lantern
- Distant Melody

This collection features Furby-themed items available in three styles: a standard version for $29.99, a rainbow foil version for $39.99, and a confetti foil version for $59.99.
MTG x Secret Lair – Furby: The Gathering

MTG x Secret Lair – Furby: The Oddbodies

As a collector, I noticed these limited-edition figures come in a few different options. You can get the standard version for around thirty bucks, but they also have a really cool rainbow foil version for forty, and if you *really* want to splurge, a confetti foil version that’s fifty-nine ninety-nine.

What to Expect From Magic: The Gathering’s Holiday Boxes

A new collection of Final Fantasy products will be released on December 5th. While these cards aren’t currently allowed in standard tournament play, that can actually be a good thing, considering how strong Final Fantasy cards like Vivi Ornitier are. The original set was incredibly popular when it came out in June – one of the best-selling ever – so it’s no surprise to see more Final Fantasy content being added.
Every scene box includes three Play Boosters, six standard scene cards, and six art cards featuring scenes. It also comes with a stand to display everything. Plus, each scene card does something different – they all have unique effects in the game.
Plus, the new lineup features four themed boxes based on games that weren’t included in the Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Commander decks. There’s also a special Chocobo box packed with fun items for fans of any of the games. Here’s a look at what’s available:
- Scene Box – Final Fantasy: Garland at the Chaos Shrine
- Garland, Royal Kidnapper
- The Destined Warrior
- The Destined White Mage
- Chaos Shrine’s Black Crystal
- The Destined Thief
- The Destined Black Mage
- Scene Box – Final Fantasy 8: Children of Fate

MTG’s 2026 Release Schedule and Unannounced UB Set Prediction

As Magic: The Gathering wraps up the year with its Final Fantasy collaboration, 2026 is starting strong with the upcoming ‘Lorwyn Eclipsed’ set. We’re already getting a sneak peek at some of the cards, and it looks like it will be a major release for the game. A particularly exciting addition is Bitterbloom Bearer, a new black creature that plays similarly to the popular old card, Bitterblossom. Beyond ‘Lorwyn Eclipsed,’ details about future cards and products are still limited, which is typical at this stage.
Magic: The Gathering (MTG) has announced exciting new sets for 2026 featuring characters from Marvel Super Heroes, The Hobbit, and Star Trek. They’re also partnering with Nickelodeon for a surprise set, which will be unveiled at New York ComicCon on October 10th. While not officially confirmed, many believe this set will be based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. With seven sets planned so far, 2026 is shaping up to be a bigger year for MTG than 2025, and we can expect even more announcements in the future.
