Deus Ex Remastered’s High PC System Requirements Spark Shock and Ridicule

The official PC system requirements for *Deus Ex Remastered* have been released, and many fans are surprised – and even shocked – by how powerful a computer you’ll need to run it. It actually requires better hardware than even the most visually impressive game in the *Deus Ex* series.

The first *Deus Ex* game is getting a modern update, officially revealed at the recent PlayStation Showcase. A short trailer shown on September 24th highlighted the improved graphics, and confirmed that Aspyr Media is developing the remaster.

Fans Baffled as Deus Ex Remastered’s PC Requirements and ‘Ugly’ Graphics

Soon after, the Steam page for *Deus Ex Remastered* launched, showing the PC requirements. These requirements surprised many fans, as they are quite demanding. To run the game well, players will need 16GB of RAM, a relatively new and powerful CPU (no more than five years old), and either an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 or AMD Radeon RX 6750 graphics card (with 8GB or 12GB of video memory, respectively). Some fans have reacted negatively, calling the requirements a joke, especially considering the mixed response to the remaster’s updated graphics. While the game has higher resolution than the original, many have criticized the character models for looking unnaturally smooth and the surfaces for being overly glossy, with some even describing it as simply unattractive.

The remastered version of the game requires much more powerful hardware than the well-received *Deus Ex: Mankind Divided*, which many fans consider the most visually impressive game in the series. Although advanced lighting features like ray tracing could justify these demanding requirements, the game’s description and trailer don’t mention any such technology. Additionally, the large difference between the minimum and recommended system specifications has caused some concern.

With the remastered version costing $29.99 (or $26.99 if pre-ordered), and the original *Deus Ex* remaining enjoyable and highly moddable – allowing players to update it to feel more modern – some fans aren’t planning on buying the new release. Concerns about the game’s visuals might be due to AI upscaling, a common technique in game development, particularly for projects with limited budgets, though the developers haven’t confirmed this.

The remastered version of *Deus Ex* will be released on February 5, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Unfortunately, fans shouldn’t expect a brand new *Deus Ex* game anytime soon, as reports indicate that Embracer Group canceled the next installment in the series back in early 2024. This remastered release is likely all that fans will receive for the popular cyberpunk franchise for the foreseeable future.
