Halo Studios will share more details about the Halo projects they’ve been developing during the Halo World Championship on October 24th. The direction of the Halo franchise is still a bit unclear, and since 343 Industries became Halo Studios and announced they’re moving to Unreal Engine 5, fans have been anticipating an official update on the next installments in the series.
At the 2024 HaloWC event, Halo Studios announced Project Foundry, a plan to rebuild the series’ visual elements with the advanced technology of Unreal Engine 5. The studio also stated that these improved assets will appear in upcoming Halo games, but didn’t share any information about particular titles.
Halo Studios to Discuss Its Ongoing Projects at the 2025 HaloWC
Halo Studios will soon share updates on its current projects, following up on the discussion begun in the 2024 “A New Dawn” video. The developer announced that presentations on both the Main Stage and Community Stage at HaloWC 2025 will go live on October 24th, and these are expected to reveal more about future Halo games. Among the projects potentially being unveiled are the long-rumored remake of Halo: Combat Evolved and a separate, multiplayer-focused Halo game, frequently called Project Ekur.
During the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2025, Phil Spencer suggested a beloved classic from the very start of Xbox might be returning, sparking talk about a potential remake of Halo: Combat Evolved – the game that launched with the original Xbox – built in Unreal Engine 5. The project known as ‘Ekur’ continues to be a big conversation within the Halo community, and recent reports indicate it hasn’t been scrapped as some thought. Instead, it may be released as an extraction shooter or another game focused on multiplayer experiences.

Naturally, all of this is just speculation and shouldn’t be considered confirmed. Halo Studios has been very secretive about its current projects, so it’s unclear what they have planned. Fans eager for updates should circle October 24 on their calendars. That’s when we might finally find out what’s next, and possibly even get a sneak peek at future Halo games.
However, a lot of fans aren’t feeling very enthusiastic about the events on October 24th. They believe that, given the developer’s recent actions, the 2025 HaloWC probably won’t have any big announcements or positive news. One fan stated, “I have no faith in this group considering the last decade.” Many others agreed, though not everyone is pessimistic. Some fans are looking forward to the event, and others have shared what games they’d like to see announced. It’s still unclear whether the upcoming HaloWC will manage to generate excitement within the community or if it will continue the pattern of secrecy we’ve seen over the last few years.
