Xbox Game Pass Adds Co-Op Action Adventure With ‘Very Positive’ Reviews

As a big Xbox Game Pass fan, I’m thrilled to hear they’ve added Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light! It’s the 14th and last game being added to the service this September 2025, and it also marks the 122nd new game to come to Xbox Game Pass so far this year. That’s a lot of gaming for the money!

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, released in 2010, was a unique installment in the Tomb Raider series, introducing several new features. It was the first game to move away from the Tomb Raider title, the first to include cooperative gameplay, and the first to be made available only as a digital download. Developed by Crystal Dynamics, the game was originally published by its parent company, Square Enix. Currently, the game is published by the series’ original creators, after Crystal Dynamics was sold to Embracer Group and the rights to Tomb Raider changed hands.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light Joins Xbox Game Pass

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light was added to Xbox Game Pass on September 30th, serving as the last game added for that month. While it wasn’t available to play immediately upon release, this isometric action-adventure game is playable with all Xbox Game Pass memberships except the basic XGP Core plan. Despite celebrating its 15th anniversary in August, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light hadn’t been offered on Xbox Game Pass before now.

Players with an Xbox Game Pass subscription can now enjoy the latest addition on their Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. You can also play it by streaming through Xbox Cloud Gaming, which is now available with all Xbox Game Pass tiers except for PC. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is expected to remain part of the XGP lineup for at least a year.

The next update to the Xbox Game Pass catalog is happening on October 1st. The Core tier will get Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, Cities: Skylines – Remastered, and Disney Dreamlight Valley. As for brand new games coming to Xbox Game Pass, Sopa – Tale of the Stolen Potato and Little Rocket Lab will be available starting October 7th – both will be released on the service on day one. We also expect to hear about the first wave of games for October 2025 on the same date.
