Bloober Team recently gave an update on the development of their Silent Hill 1 remake. After the positive reception to Bloober’s Silent Hill 2 remake, fans are eager to see if they can achieve the same level of success with a reimagining of the very first Silent Hill game.
After a long period of inactivity, the Silent Hill franchise is experiencing a revival. Besides the well-received Silent Hill 2 remake, the recently launched Silent Hill f has earned a lot of positive feedback as a brand new story, and a fresh movie adaptation of Silent Hill 2 is coming soon. The upcoming remake of the original Silent Hill 1 is especially exciting for fans, as the first game has never received a true remake or remaster, except for re-interpretations like Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.
Silent Hill 1 Gets Positive Progress Report
Bloober Team, the developer behind the Silent Hill 2 remake and the upcoming Silent Hill 1 remake, recently shared an update on its progress. This information came during a question-and-answer session with investors, where Bloober discussed its future plans. Regarding Silent Hill 1, development is now officially in full swing, with one of Bloober’s two main teams focusing solely on this game. The other team is currently working on a new, unannounced project. It’s unclear if this project will be a collaboration with a partner like Konami, or an original game developed entirely by Bloober Team.

While Silent Hill fans are understandably excited for news about the new game, it might be some time before Bloober Team shares any details publicly. The Silent Hill 2 remake was in the works for five years before its release, and it took two years just to make the initial announcement. However, Bloober Team likely gained valuable experience from that project and could potentially reuse some resources from the first remake, meaning this time around the development process might not take as long.

It’s going to be fascinating to watch where this series goes from here. Fans were naturally hesitant about adding a completely new story set in historical Japan to the Silent Hill franchise, but it looks like taking that chance worked out with Silent Hill f. If the remake of the first game does well, players might eventually see a Silent Hill 3 remake. However, an announcement for either a Silent Hill 3 remake or a completely new game is likely still a ways off.
