Nintendo has shared new details about the Vi-O-La motorbike, a key feature in the upcoming *Metroid Prime 4: Beyond*. This vehicle will allow Samus Aran to quickly travel around the planet Byrus during her adventure.
The *Metroid* series, which began in 1986, is a cornerstone of Nintendo’s franchises. When the series moved to a first-person perspective with *Metroid Prime* – a game that helped create the “Metroidvania” genre – some longtime fans were unsure, but the *Prime* subseries proved very popular. The next installment, *Metroid Prime 4: Beyond*, was first revealed in 2017 and, after several years of development and a change in development studios, is now scheduled to release on December 4, 2025.
New Vi-O-La Motorbike Could Be a Gamechanger for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
The Japanese website for *Metroid Prime 4: Beyond* recently added details about the Vi-O-La motorbike. Nintendo explains that players will only be able to use the motorbike in certain areas, and the game will switch back to a first-person perspective once Samus dismounts. While riding, players can use speed boosts and power slides to defeat enemies, gain speed, and break apart mineral deposits. Additionally, Samus can fire projectiles that lock onto up to five enemies at once and then return to her like a boomerang.

It’s still unclear how the motorbike sections will fit into *Metroid Prime 4: Beyond*, but they sound like they’ll add fast-paced, exciting moments. This could mean the new game will feel more action-packed than previous *Metroid Prime* titles. Samus will also have new psychic abilities that let her interact with the environment, like activating machines or opening doors remotely. After a long wait, fans are hoping *Metroid Prime 4: Beyond* will become one of the greatest *Metroid* games of all time.

Although it’s just a rumor right now, people familiar with the development studio Retro Studios have suggested they might begin working on *Metroid Prime 5* shortly after releasing *Metroid Prime 4: Beyond*. If true, this would be great news for *Metroid* fans, meaning they wouldn’t have to wait as long for the next game. However, it’s important to remember that this hasn’t been officially confirmed, so gamers should view this information with skepticism.
