This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling anime and manhwa.
While romance isn’t a major part of *Solo Leveling*, the main character, Jin-Woo, is still capable of feeling love. Despite becoming incredibly powerful, he retains his human emotions, which are evident in his interactions with Cha Hae-In, particularly in the *Solo Leveling* manhwa.
The first two seasons of Solo Leveling focus mainly on Jin-Woo becoming stronger, but they also quietly set up a connection between him and Cha Hae-In. As the story progresses, their chemistry becomes clearer, and Cha Hae-In stands out as one of the few people who really gets and accepts Jin-Woo for who he is. Now, let’s revisit some of the most romantic moments between Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In in Solo Leveling.
Cha Hae-In and Jin-Woo’s Fateful Encounter
Where Scent Meets Power Spark a Connection

- Anime: Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 5
Cha Hae-In and Sung Jin-Woo are both experienced dungeon hunters, accustomed to the darkness and risks involved. But during one raid, they discovered a connection with each other. From their first meeting, both Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In felt there was something unique about the other.
In the anime, Jin-Woo thought Cha Hae-In was as strong as Go Gun-Hee, but Cha Hae-In believed Go Gun-Hee was the powerful presence she detected from Jin-Woo in the manhwa. Later, Cha Hae-In was attracted to Jin-Woo’s scent, finding it unusually clean—unlike other hunters, his scent didn’t bother her. Before the day was over, she began investigating him, even calling a contact at the Korean Hunters Association to gather information. Her curiosity grew, and she realized her interest was becoming more than just professional. She even started researching him online, much like a teenage girl with a crush, fascinated by the mysterious hunter.

Many fans of Solo Leveling consider Cha Hae-In to be the most powerful female hunter globally. Some believe she could even defeat Jin-Woo’s strongest shadow swordsman on her own, demonstrating a level of skill and swordsmanship that surpasses almost everyone else.
Even though Cha Hae-In is a powerful hunter, she occasionally needs help, as everyone has their breaking point. During practice before the Jeju Island raid, Jin-Woo had to intervene when Atsushi Kumamoto aggressively attacked her, intending to seriously harm her. This happened because Cha Hae-In had quickly and decisively defeated Atsushi with fourteen punches, damaging his ego. Although she was capable of defending herself, Jin-Woo stopped the fight to prevent it from escalating.

Out of all the top-level Korean hunters battling inside the Ant Queen’s nest, the Ant King specifically targeted Cha Hae-In, knocking her unconscious and putting her in a life-or-death situation.
Cha Hae-In was nearly killed, but Jin-Woo arrived just in the nick of time to rescue her, defeating the Ant King in the process. He even considered revealing his hidden powers to find a way to help her recover. Using the abilities of a restored healer, and with Min Byung-Gu watching, Jin-Woo took a big risk to save Cha Hae-In. Fans are hoping the next season of Solo Leveling will show Cha Hae-In’s reaction when she learns how Jin-Woo saved her life.

The Perks of Shadow Exchange

- Manhwa: Solo Leveling Chapter 113
Fans of Solo Leveling are getting excited for the upcoming adaptation of the Ahjin Guild storyline, which features a touching moment where Jin-Woo embraces Cha Hae-In, seemingly afraid of letting her go. While he’ll definitely ask for her permission first, this hug isn’t motivated by romantic feelings. Instead, Jin-Woo is using the opportunity to test the limits of his Shadow Exchange ability.
Readers are familiar with Jin-Woo’s ability, Shadow Exchange, which lets him teleport using his shadows. This time, he was testing if he could bring someone else with him – Cha Hae-In. Though there wasn’t any romance involved, especially from Jin-Woo, Cha Hae-In couldn’t help but blush when he put his arms around her to use the skill.

During the Double Dungeon arc, Cha Hae-In will risk everything to help Jin-Woo, even facing off against the powerful Architect of the System while knowing the odds are stacked against her. With Cha Hae-In and Jin-Woo becoming friends, they naturally wanted to spend time together, even with everything going on around them. When Jin-Woo felt worried about his upcoming battle, he asked Cha Hae-In out on a date – a surprising gesture, as he’s usually kept his feelings to himself since gaining his new life.
While enjoying a date at the amusement park, Jin-Woo shared some personal details about his father with Cha Hae-In. She listened patiently, offering a comforting and calming presence that helped him feel more at ease. Cha Hae-In also confided in him about her own worries, and Jin-Woo listened just as attentively, offering a non-judgmental ear.
The romance between Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In blossomed as they shared a beautiful view from the top of Kaisel. They spent the night together, enjoying breakfast and intimate conversations, lost in their own little world.

- Manhwa: Solo Leveling Chapter 179
Before facing his ultimate challenge, Jin-Woo promised Cha Hae-In he would find his way back to her, regardless of what happened. Though they only talked on the phone, their conversation was full of hidden feelings. Cha Hae-In felt a comforting warmth, and Jin-Woo experienced a rare moment of peace, even if just for a little while.
As a huge fan of the series, it really hit me hard seeing everything Jin-Woo went through to finally end that epic war between the Rulers and Monarchs. It was especially painful knowing what he had to give up, and Cha Hae-In was a massive part of that sacrifice – he essentially put their future on pause for the sake of everyone. I was so relieved when he finally kept his promise and found her again, even after she lost her memories! And honestly, I’m just thrilled that this time, he’s determined to not let her go. It’s such a heartwarming part of the story!
