As a long-time gamer and an avid fan of FromSoftware’s intricately designed worlds, I was absolutely captivated by the recent revelations about Queen Marika in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The mystery surrounding this enigmatic figure has always intrigued me, and seeing her dark past unfold through gameplay was an experience I won’t soon forget.
A gamer designing a character in Elden Ring chose to make their Tarnished resemble Queen Marika the Everlasting. In the game’s world, known as the Lands Between, Marika is currently the ruling divine monarch.
Although Queen Marika is primarily a supporting character in Elden Ring, she is unquestionably the central figure driving the game’s narrative. The plot revolves around the powerful monarch, her vast lineage, and the Golden Order faction that governs the Lands Between. Despite her crucial role in the world of Elden Ring, Marika remains shrouded in mystery, with players only encountering a decayed version of her during the battle against Malenia, the consort and other half of Queen Marika. However, one player has used Elden Ring’s character creator to depict their Tarnished as Marika, offering fans a potential image of what the god-queen might have looked like at her peak.
In a widely popular Reddit post with over 6,200 upvotes, user nouvlesse posted pictures of their Elden Ring character that closely resembles Queen Marika. Nouvlesse, who adjusted the character settings for their portrayal of Marika, also shared some intriguing backstory about the queen. The recent Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, launched in June, shed light on Queen Marika’s troubled history, revealing details such as her fellow Shamans’ heartbreaking fate.

Another member suggested that nouvlesse’s personalized character made them recognize that Marika’s son bore a striking resemblance to his Numen mother. Messmer is one of the new bosses in “Shadow of the Erdtree,” and players must conquer him to advance through the DLC’s primary storyline.

As a passionate fan, I’m excited to share that, according to Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game director and CEO of FromSoftware, Shadow of the Erdtree will be the sole expansion for Elden Ring. Although it may not boast the same global popularity as Elden Ring, the latest installment in the venerable Armored Core series, titled Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, has managed to sell over three million copies worldwide since its release in August.
