You can now play *The Casting of Frank Stone* with your Xbox Game Pass subscription. This release, along with other classic Ubisoft games added on October 1st, brings the total number of new games added to Microsoft’s service this month to 52, and the total for 2025 to 174.
Supermassive Games, known for their horror games, created The Casting of Frank Stone, an interactive drama released in early September 2024 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The game takes place within the world of Dead by Daylight, the popular survival horror game by Behaviour Interactive, who also published this new title. The story follows a group of young filmmakers who decide to shoot a horror movie in an abandoned steel mill, but quickly find themselves in a terrifying situation.
The Casting of Frank Stone Joins 3 Xbox Game Pass Tiers
About six weeks after celebrating its first anniversary, Supermassive Games’ suspenseful interactive drama became available on Xbox Game Pass on October 14th. While not available on launch day, *The Casting of Frank Stone* is playable on all Game Pass tiers except the Essential plan – including PC, Premium, and Ultimate. This adds another spooky title to the Game Pass horror selection just in time for Halloween. And fans of the original game, *Dead by Daylight*, can also play it on the service, as it was added back in May 2019.
While not Supermassive Games’ most critically lauded horror title, *The Casting of Frank Stone* currently has a “Fair” rating on OpenCritic, averaging 68 out of 100 based on 69 reviews. Reviewers generally liked the game’s immersive atmosphere, visuals, branching story, and easy-to-learn gameplay, particularly appreciating how well it captured the spirit of *Dead by Daylight* with plenty of references for dedicated fans. However, the game’s score was lowered by criticisms regarding its slow pace, lack of meaningful interaction, and some minor technical issues like out-of-sync lip movements.
Xbox Game Pass is getting nine new games throughout the rest of October 2025. On October 15th, players can enjoy the fantasy roguelite *Ball x Pit* and the action platformer *The Grinch: Christmas Adventures*. The full release of the sandbox MMO *Pax Dei* follows on October 16th. Double Fine’s unique adventure game *Keeper* launches on October 17th, and Flying Wild Hog’s action-packed *Evil West* arrives on October 21st, alongside the highly anticipated *Ninja Gaiden 4*. Finally, Obsidian Entertainment’s new RPG, *The Outer Worlds 2*, will be available starting October 29th.

Three games – *Cocoon*, *Core Keeper*, and *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed* – will be removed from the subscription service on October 15th. We expect Microsoft to reveal the next set of games coming to Xbox Game Pass (Wave 2) around October 21st.
