Wizards of the Coast is Delaying a New Magic: the Gathering Product

Wizards of the Coast announced that a manufacturing issue will cause delays for some recently produced Magic: the Gathering products. The popular card game has been increasing production to meet demand for several new expansions planned this year. 2025 has seen Magic: the Gathering expand its “Universes Beyond” line, featuring crossovers with popular franchises like Final Fantasy and Spider-Man. Unfortunately, these new products will now be released at a later date than originally planned.

Wizards of the Coast often releases exclusive Magic: the Gathering cards through “Secret Lair” drops – limited collections available in their online shop. These usually feature reprints of older cards with updated artwork. Secret Lairs have also been used to introduce fun collaborations, such as the recent collection featuring franchises like Horizon and God of War. Now, Wizards of the Coast has announced some disappointing news regarding the Secret Lair series.

Magic: the Gathering is Delaying Some Secret Lair Products

As a big Magic: The Gathering fan, I just saw the news from Wizards of the Coast about some Secret Lair delays. They posted an update saying a few of the recent Secret Lairs are going to be held up because of a problem with one of the materials they need. It’s frustrating, but they’re being good about it – they’re offering refunds or letting people change their orders if they’re affected. They haven’t said which Secret Lairs are delayed yet, though, which is a little annoying.

Wizards of the Coast is experiencing manufacturing delays, which seem to be linked to a recent surge in its Secret Lairs product line. They’ve announced several new collaborations with popular brands, including Jaws, Furby, and Iron Maiden. Interestingly, Magic: The Gathering‘s Secret Lairs also include a crossover with The Office, with cards inspired by the character Dwight Schrute.

Magic: The Gathering isn’t slowing down with its collaborations! After the Secret Lair drops, even more crossovers are planned for the rest of the year. The final major set of 2025 will feature characters and themes from Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender. Plus, the popular Final Fantasy collaboration will get more content with special holiday-themed promo cards coming later this year. Magic: The Gathering is clearly committed to bringing beloved franchises to life as playable cards.
