Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC Release Date Seems Obvious

The upcoming game Pokemon Legends: Z-A will have downloadable content (DLC) after its release, but we don’t have a specific date for the Mega Dimension expansion yet. While some players weren’t thrilled with the initial announcement, this DLC will add Pokemon that were left out of the Kalos region Pokedex, and potentially even more Mega Evolutions beyond Mega Raichu X and Y, according to rumors. The DLC might be released sooner than expected, possibly alongside the start of new ranked battle seasons in Legends: Z-A.

More recent Pokémon games have been adding to the experience with downloadable content (DLC) released after the initial game launch. Pokémon Sword and Shield started this trend, with the Isle of Armor released about six months after the main game, followed by the Crown Tundra a few months later. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet also used this approach, releasing the Teal Mask nearly a year after the base game and the Indigo Disk a couple of months after that. Although Pokémon Legends: Arceus didn’t have any DLC, the announcement of an expansion for Pokémon Legends: Z-A before its launch suggests that future DLC might be available sooner.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC Could Release with the Start of Season 4

A central feature of Pokemon Legends: Z-A is the Z-A Battle Club, where players can battle each other in online free-for-all matches for up to four players, using the game’s new battle system. Players can also climb the ranks in these online battles to earn rewards – including Mega Stones for all three Kalos starter Pokémon during the first three seasons. What rewards will be available after those first three seasons is currently unknown.

Once players reach a specific rank in the Z-A Battle Club, they keep it – ranks don’t go down over time.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Online Battle Club Offers Mega Stones as Seasonal Rewards

  • Greninjite — Season 1 (October 17-November 6)
  • Delphoxite — Season 2 (TBD)
  • Chesnaughtite — Season 3 (TBD)

Even though some players were upset about having to pay for Nintendo Switch Online and compete in ranked battles to unlock new Mega Evolutions, it’s actually quite simple to reach rank K and get Mega Greninja in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. This suggests we’ll likely see other Mega Stones become available as rewards for reaching that same rank in future seasons. Interestingly, the Mega Dimensions DLC could provide a great selection of Mega Stones to give Legends: Z-A players after the initial Kalos starter stones are given out.

Mega Dimensions is Leaked to Add the Hoenn Starters

Many fans were disappointed that Sceptile, Blaziken, and Swampert – the starter Pokémon from the Hoenn region – didn’t return with Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. However, recent leaks suggest these Pokémon will be added to the game through the Mega Dimension DLC. If the leaks are true, it would make perfect sense for the game to offer the Mega Stones needed to evolve these starters as rewards during ranked battle seasons, following the pattern already established with the starter Pokémon from the Kalos region.

Pokemon Legends Z-A’s DLC Release Date is Most Likely at the End of December 2025

Based on how the game’s ranked battles have been structured, it’s probable that the DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A will launch alongside the beginning of Season 4 of the Z-A Battle Club. Considering the length of the first season, we can estimate Season 2 will likely end in November and Season 3 in December. This suggests Season 4 could start in late December, meaning the Mega Dimension DLC might be released around the end of this year or early next year.
