Soulja Boy is Selling Rebranded Retroid Consoles As His Own

Retroid has stated that Soulja Boy’s new retro handheld console, the SouljaGameFlip, does not have an official licensing agreement with them.

Retro handheld gaming consoles have become increasingly popular lately, with many new companies starting to make them. Retroid is a well-known brand in this space, and it seems Soulja Boy is currently selling some of their consoles as if they were his own, despite not having any official partnership with the company.

Soulja Boy is Selling Rebranded Retroid Consoles At More than Double the Price

Soulja Boy is now promoting the Retroid Pocket Flip 2, which he’s calling the SouljaGameFlip, on his Instagram account. In a recent post, he showed off the handheld console, highlighting that it can play games like Sonic and run apps like TikTok and Instagram – basically, everything you need.

Retro Dodo reports that Retroid was surprised to find Soulja Boy selling their consoles as if they were his own brand. A Retroid representative stated they have no official partnership with Soulja Boy and did not give him permission to resell their products. They also confirmed the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 is patented by them in the U.S.

It’s clear from the website selling the SouljaGameFlip that it’s simply a Retroid Pocket Flip 2 with a new name – they even use the same product photos. On top of that, the rapper is selling it for more than double the original price; the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 costs $209, while the SouljaGameFlip is listed for $436.50.

Also, Atari recently released the Gamestation Go, a cool handheld console with a retro design and modern features.
