Over 4 Billion: Luffy’s Next Bounty After Elbaf Has Already Been Decided By Oda

The anime One Piece is now in the Elbaf arc, which has been packed with thrilling moments and important backstory. Considering the current speed of the story, and taking Oda’s usual breaks into account, it’s likely this arc will finish within two years. After the flashback about Rocks, the series will move closer to its conclusion. When Elbaf ends, fans can expect some huge reveals, including significant updates to the characters’ bounties.

Fans are always excited for new bounty updates, and it’s almost certain we’ll get them with the story moving towards Elbaf. With powerful new enemies like the Holy Knights and Imu revealed, Luffy is expected to receive a significant bounty increase – likely jumping from 3 billion to around 4 billion – since the Wano arc. However, he won’t be the only one; all the other Yonko are also poised for major bounty increases.

Luffy started his journey in the East Blue, earning his first bounty of 30,000,000 berries after defeating Arlong. Since then, his bounty has increased dramatically with each powerful enemy he’s overcome. After defeating Kaido at Onigashima, his bounty reached a peak of 3 billion berries, though it’s likely to grow even higher in the future.

Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, have arrived on Elbaf after their time on Egghead, and it’s expected that their bounties will be raised soon. After leaving Elbaf, Luffy’s bounty will probably jump significantly – many fans believe it will increase by at least one billion berries, bringing his total to over four billion. This increase could come from a confrontation with Imu, potentially defeating them while they possess the body of Gunko, or by defeating a powerful figure like Domi Reversi’d Loki. Luffy’s continued opposition to the World Government will undoubtedly make him an even bigger target.

Luffy isn’t the only one of the Four Emperors who’s likely to have a higher bounty. The other Emperors are also expected to see increases. Buggy, leading the Cross Guild, has been creating a lot of trouble, recently even killing Vice Admiral T-Bone. Because of this growing threat, they’re also likely to receive updated bounties soon.

There’s strong evidence Blackbeard was responsible for the recent large-scale attack on Marijoa. He’s also captured Garp, and his crew has openly expressed a desire for increased bounty amounts. It’s almost certain Teach will receive a new bounty soon.

Fans are currently unsure of Shanks’s plans, but it’s clear he’s taking action. This activity could result in a significant increase to his bounty, potentially exceeding those of the previous Emperors, Kaido and Big Mom.

Luffy’s Final Bounty Will Be Even Higher

5.6 Billion Would Make Perfect Sense

A 4 billion berry bounty is a significant amount for Luffy, placing him around the level of an average Yonko. However, it’s unlikely to be his highest bounty in One Piece. Considering Oda’s tendency to use wordplay and meaningful numbers, it’s highly probable that Luffy’s final bounty will be approximately 5.6 billion berries.

As a huge One Piece fan, I always found it so cool that 56 is Luffy’s signature number – it’s a play on the Japanese word for rubber, ‘gomu’! And it’s even more awesome when you think about Roger’s bounty being 5,564,800,000 Berries, so close to 5.6 billion! It feels like a really intentional connection between the two characters, don’t you think?

A bounty of 5.6 billion would officially make Luffy the most wanted criminal globally, a fitting status for the future Pirate King and the one destined to challenge Imu.

One Piece Chapter 1165 is scheduled for release this week, as usual on Sundays.
