In the late game of The Outer Worlds 2, the quest ‘An Equitable Arrangement‘ asks you to choose between supporting Auntie’s Choice and The Order in controlling the Archive. While gaining favor with either faction is straightforward, getting them to cooperate is much more difficult. Each group has firm demands, and you can unintentionally prevent them from working together before you even begin negotiations. Here’s a guide to successfully uniting Auntie’s Choice and The Order in The Outer Worlds 2.
How to Get Auntie’s Choice and The Order to Negotiate in The Outer Worlds 2
Simply wanting Auntie Cleo and Ruth to reach an agreement isn’t enough to make it happen. Before they can work together, certain things need to be in place first.
- Ensure the delegates aren’t killed by De Vries at Greater Tranquility Station
- Completing faction quests to improve your reputation and earn the trust of each respective leader
There’s a straightforward option, though it involves violence. If you can’t talk De Vries out of her plan to kill the delegates, you can eliminate her yourself to prevent them from being harmed.
Faction quests are easy to complete and naturally fit into the main story as you work towards reaching the Archive and analyzing rift data. As you progress, you’ll meet important figures from both factions who will ask you to do various tasks for them. If you complete these tasks (they’re generally quite simple), you’ll eventually be able to speak with both Auntie Cleo and Ruth Basar.
Don’t try to fight the Protectorate at the Archive by yourself. If you do, you’ll be stopped and won’t be able to continue.
Convincing Auntie Cleo and Ruth to Negotiate
Okay, so when I was talking to Auntie Cleo and Ruth, my goal was to get them to work together. Luckily, Auntie Cleo was pretty easy – she was totally on board with setting up a meeting. Ruth, though? She needed some convincing! I had to pass a speech check to get her to agree it was a good idea. I remember using specific dialogue options to persuade her, and thankfully it worked!
- Vicar Levin has expressed the desire to resume negotiations. I think he’s right.
- I consider you a wise leader, Bishop. Wise enough to see the potential benefits here. (Speech 7)
- I’m sure. I want Auntie’s Choice and the Order to work together.
- I’ll do whatever it takes to earn an audience with her.
All Negotiation Choices to Convince Auntie’s Choice and The Order to Work Together
It’s a good idea to save your progress right before you start the negotiation. That way, if you’re curious about different outcomes or want to experiment with different dialogue choices, you can easily go back and try again.
Here are the specific conversation choices I made to get both sides to collaborate. While these aren’t the only way to succeed, they should provide a straightforward path to getting them to work together and unlocking the ‘Corporation Cooperation’ achievement/trophy.
- I see why a neutral third party was needed here.
- Let’s get down to it. What will it take to make this partnership happen?
- The most important thing to decide first is who gets control over the Archive.
- Ruth is right. The Order built the Archive. It belongs to them.
- It needn’t be forever. What’s a small sacrifice now for greater gains later?
- You’re the corporate genius, aren’t you? I’m sure you’ll figure out something.
- I disagree. Nothing in life comes for free. Auntie’s Choice should oversee production.
- Crazy idea, but maybe the Order and Auntie’s Choice can share the technology?
- Better than a poke in the eye!
- Now you’re talking. I enjoy a few “chemical cocktails” myself. (Ex-Convict background required)
- But it is Auntie’s business now, Ruth. You two are working together.
- This apparatus you’ve mentioned – it doesn’t sound very safe.
- What are the chances that this turns out successful? You must have run the numbers.
- It’s your decision, Ruth. If you’re prepared to pay the cost, who am I to object?
- I’m just happy you two were able to reach an agreement at all.
There are other ways to get Auntie and Ruth to cooperate, but this is a simple option that doesn’t demand specific skills. Aside from the ex-convict backstory I added for entertainment – which doesn’t actually affect the outcome – this is a straightforward path to help them find common ground and compromise.
