This article contains spoilers for the One Piece series.
Every time a new One Piece volume comes out, fans eagerly anticipate the SBS section. This is a special part of each volume where the series creator, Eiichiro Oda, answers questions submitted by readers. While some questions are lighthearted, others reveal important details about the story. The latest SBS was particularly impactful, as it confirmed a long-standing and popular fan theory about One Piece.
I remember seeing hints of this a while back on a Vivre Card, and it’s now been confirmed: Queen, the Plague, is Franky’s father. It turns out Queen is the one who abandoned Franky years ago, which we saw play out in the Water 7 arc. It’s a real shame they never had a chance to meet face-to-face during the Wano arc, especially knowing the truth.
Oda Officially Confirms Queen Being Franky’s Father In SBS Volume 113

- Oda’s Newest SBS Confirms It
Back in September 2024, a new set of Vivre Cards was released, and fans immediately started looking for clues about what might happen next in the story. They discovered a significant hint – seemingly placed by Oda’s team – suggesting that Queen, a member of the Beast Pirates, is actually Franky’s father.
The timeline clearly connects Queen to Franky. Official records, called Vivre Cards, reveal Queen had a son 36 years ago, and left him at age 10 to join Kaido. This aligns exactly with Franky’s story: he’s currently 36 years old and was found abandoned at age 10 by Tom.
It was a popular idea for a long time, but recently confirmed as true by Eiichiro Oda in the latest SBS.
Reader: Odacchi, Heso! Are Franky and Queen father and son??
Oh no… they’ve figured it out! It seems someone noticed the connection in the Vivre Card data – Queen’s child and Franky were both born in the same year! And the year Queen gave up his child lines up with when Franky was taken in by Tom. It would be strange if the readers knew something the characters didn’t, so I need to quickly come up with a way to explain this away.
N… nyo they’re… nyot…!!!
The Vivre Cards Aren’t a Trustworthy Source Of Information
- Oda Doesn’t Write Them Himself
- The Vivre Cards Are Often Wrong
The Vivre Cards accurately predicted the connection between Franky and Queen – it turns out Franky is Queen’s child. However, this doesn’t mean the Vivre Cards are always correct and should be taken as absolute truth.
Vivre Cards aren’t always accurate when it comes to details not directly shown in the One Piece manga. That’s because they’re created by Eiichiro Oda’s editors, not Oda himself. While the editors usually do a good job, they don’t always have all the answers.
Okay, so I was really excited about the Vivre Cards, but it looks like we need to be careful with the info they give us! There was a big mix-up with Katakuri – the cards said he ate his Devil Fruit when he was only five years old. But the God Valley arc just dropped a bombshell: Katakuri hadn’t even had his Devil Fruit until he was eight, and Big Mom was actually planning to give him the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu! It definitely makes you realize we can’t take everything in those cards as absolute fact.
One Piece Chapter 1165 is scheduled for release this week, as usual on Sundays. While it will be available in Japan at midnight on Monday, most international fans can expect to read it on November 9th. The official release date is November 9, 2025, and the chapter will be available for free on Manga Plus.
