World of Warcraft Making Big Changes to the Portal Room in Patch 11.2.7

With Patch 11.2.7, World of Warcraft is updating the portal rooms in Stormwind and Orgrimmar. Portals to Dornogal and the Housing area will now be located in the main chambers for easier access. While portals to zones like Azsuna, Ashran, Zuldazar, and Silvermoon will be moved a bit further inside, this update should generally make getting around the game much simpler for most players.

The world of World of Warcraft is huge, and getting around quickly can be challenging. Luckily, the portal rooms – the Wizard’s Sanctum in Stormwind and the Pathfinder’s Den in Orgrimmar – are key to fast travel in the game.

Stormwind/Orgrimmar Portal Room Changes in WoW Patch 11.2.7

The major cities are getting updates to their portals! In the latest test version of the game, portals to the new Alliance and Horde starting zones for the upcoming Housing feature – Founder’s Point and Razorwind Shores – have been added. These replace the Azsuna portal, which has moved to a different room. Plus, the Dornogal portal is now closer to where players need it, switching places with Ashran (for Alliance players) and Zuldazar (for Horde players). You can find a map showing all the changes on MrGM’s Twitter.

  • Alliance
    • Dornogal moved to room 1 (replaces Ashran),
    • Founder’s Point (Housing) added to room 1 (replaces Azsuna)
    • Azsuna and Ashran moved to room 2
  • Horde
    • Dornogal moved to room 1 (replaces Zuldazar),
    • Razorwind Shores (Housing) added to room 1 (replaces Azsuna)
    • Zuldazar, Aszuna, and Silvermoon (The Burning Crusade) moved to room 2

With the release of Midnight, the portal rooms will be updated with a new portal to the redesigned Silvermoon City in both the Alliance and Horde chambers. For Alliance players, the Silvermoon portal will replace the existing Boralus portal. Horde players will see their old Silvermoon portal (from WoW: The Burning Crusade) replaced with the updated version. Boralus will stay available in the first room until Midnight. The old Silvermoon portal will be moved to the basement of the Horde portal room with Patch 11.2.7 as we prepare for the new expansion.

Blizzard will likely need to expand the Horde portal area soon. With the upcoming release of Midnight, the Alliance will use 14 out of 20 available portal spaces, and the addition of Silvermoon will fill 13 of the Horde’s 14 spaces. If future content from World of Warcraft: The Last Titan requires another portal, players might see a third level added to the Orgrimmar portal room in the coming years.

The latest update for World of Warcraft, patch 11.2.7, arrives on December 2nd, meaning changes to the portal rooms will be available soon. While there’s no official release date for the next expansion, World of Warcraft: Midnight, signs point to a launch around March 10th.
