Set to release on September 18, 2026 – coinciding with the game’s 30th anniversary – the film has a lot of expectations to meet. Although the cast is known, details about the plot have been scarce. Filming for the new Resident Evil movie is underway in Prague’s Karlin district, according to The Prague Reporter. Photos from the set suggest the town is being transformed into Raccoon City, with a map and bus markings visible. Interestingly, police cars feature Colorado license plates, meaning this version of the story won’t be set in the American Midwest. The entire set is covered in artificial snow, hinting that winter will play a role in the film’s events.
Sources say the movie filmed several action-packed scenes with cars and explosions locally. Residents were notified about filming from 3 PM to 3 AM between October 29th and November 2nd. Considering the Resident Evil franchise often features nighttime settings, the film appears to be embracing that element. With the release date approaching, we can likely expect more details to emerge before the end of the year. The inclusion of Raccoon City is particularly interesting, as many of the games – including Resident Evil 2 and 3 – are set there.
