The results of the worldwide popularity vote are in, and artist Kohei Horikoshi created a special illustration featuring the top 10 characters. The winner even received a statue! As many fans predicted, Bakugo won the My Hero Academia Global Popularity Poll, and this win is being celebrated with a statue in his likeness. I watched with a lot of interest as My Hero Academia ran a worldwide popularity poll last year. It was cool to see fans from every country get a chance to vote for the characters they loved. While the results definitely sparked some debate and disagreement among fans, it was still a really exciting event.
It’s been known for a while that Bakugo won the recent popularity poll by a large margin. Izuku Midoriya, the main character, came in second, with a significant difference in votes. Interestingly, Deku hasn’t won a popularity poll since the very first one, consistently losing to Bakugo. That initial poll also had far fewer voters and took place early in the series, before the characters were fully developed, so it’s considered less reliable.
Bakugo continues to be the most popular character, maintaining his top position since initially rising to fame. Horikoshi, the series author, highlighted this by featuring Bakugo prominently in an illustration of the poll’s top ten winners. Recently, Bakugo’s popularity has been further recognized with the unveiling of a statue in his honor.
