Take a deep breath. I’m reminding everyone to be patient. There’s no need to worry. I’ve found myself saying similar things to my cat during the fireworks season here in the UK, and now, Todd Howard is saying similar things about The Elder Scrolls 6. He shared these thoughts in a recent interview while also discussing the upcoming re-release of Bethesda’s popular game, Fallout 4.
Bethesda’s head says The Elder Scrolls 6 is still years away. He explained to GQ that he prefers to surprise fans with announcements and releases, and his ideal scenario is for the game to simply appear one day after a long period of development. He clarified that this is just his preference and not a guaranteed plan.
It’s not really a new place, since we already saw parts of it – the hills, ruins, and plants – in the 2018 trailer. Assuming that trailer accurately showed the environment, I’m really excited to explore it again after all this time. I especially want to climb that specific rock in the foreground on the right, around the 14-second mark of the trailer. It’s not a huge landmark, but it’ll be a good place to start my exploration.
So, someone asked about whether Bethesda might surprise us with The Elder Scrolls 6, kind of like they did with the remastered Oblivion. Apparently, they see the Oblivion Remastered release as a bit of a practice run – and it went well! If that’s anything to go by, we can probably expect around six months of rumors and leaks before the actual game drops. It’s funny, considering Bethesda confirmed they were working on it seven years ago, but they still want to surprise us!
Howard also mentioned a recent meeting with the team from the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages wiki. They visited to create a character in the game as a tribute to a long-time forum member. This member’s roleplaying stories from the mid-2000s actually have some surprising links to the official Elder Scrolls history, and Howard spoke about it with less of his usual playful sarcasm.
The developer was asked increasingly difficult hypothetical questions about surviving a nuclear apocalypse, and he finally said enough when asked if he’d even drink toilet water. He seems to think he’d fare pretty well if the world ended, which suggests he’s either never seen the bleak film Threads, or has completely blocked it from his memory. Honestly, things would be terrible for everyone.
He might be planning something extreme, like transferring his consciousness into a robotic body, and then seeking revenge after everything falls apart. That would certainly be a shocking and unexpected comeback, and he’d definitely have the upper hand.
