Pokemon Legends: Z-A is bringing Mega Evolutions back in a big way, after they hadn’t appeared in the games for a while. The first Mega Evolutions introduced in previous games mostly focused on older Pokemon, but Pokemon Legends: Z-A is now giving later generations some love too. The latest trailer for the Mega Dimensions DLC confirms that every generation of Pokemon will finally have at least one Mega Evolution in the game.
The latest trailer for the Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimensions DLC showed off two new Pokemon that will gain Mega Evolutions. While Chimecho from Generation 3 is an unexpected addition, the biggest news is Mega Baxcalibur. This is the first Pokemon from Generation 9 to receive a Mega Evolution, meaning every Pokemon generation now has at least one Pokemon that can Mega Evolve.
With the Release of Mega Dimensions, Pokemon Legends: Z-A Now Has a Mega Evolution from Every Generation
Mega Evolution debuted in the Pokemon X and Y games of Generation 6, so it makes sense that only Pokemon from that era received Mega Evolutions. While still present in Generation 7, Mega Evolution wasn’t a major focus, leading to no new additions. It was removed entirely in Generation 8, making Pokemon Legends: Z-A the first real chance for games released after X and Y to include Mega Evolved Pokemon.

It makes sense that many Pokémon with Mega Evolutions come from the first generation, as it remains the most beloved. The third generation is also well-represented, likely because its remakes, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, came out soon after X and Y, giving Pokémon from that region a chance to gain new forms. Pokemon Legends: Z-A added Mega Evolutions for Pokémon from generations 5 and 6, which previously only had Mega Audino and Mega Diancie. Considering that generations 7, 8, and 9 each have only one Mega Evolution, the upcoming Mega Dimensions DLC should prioritize adding more from those newer generations.

Alongside the already announced Mega Chimecho and Mega Baxcalibur for the new Mega Dimensions DLC, leaks have revealed even more Pokémon getting Mega Evolutions. These include Pokémon from Generations 3 through 9, with a notable focus on the newer generations – Scovillain, Glimmora, and Tatsugiri will all receive Mega Evolutions, joining Baxcalibur as representatives from Generation 9. With the future of Mega Evolution beyond the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A and the Mega Dimension DLC uncertain, it’s great to see the series fully utilize this feature and finally include Pokémon from generations that previously missed out.
If these leaks are true, Falinks will remain the sole Gen 8 Mega in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
