Details about a new online Horizon game, called Horizon Steel Frontiers, have been revealed before its official announcement. The game, based on the popular PlayStation and Guerrilla Games series, is an MMORPG – a massive, multiplayer online role-playing game.
I’ve been really into the Horizon games – Zero Dawn and Forbidden West. They came out in 2017 and 2022, and everyone seems to love them! It’s a third-person shooter set after the apocalypse, and honestly, it’s beautiful to look at. The world is so open and easy to get around in, and fighting those huge robot dinosaurs in that gorgeous environment is just awesome. We’ve seen a LEGO Horizon game and a VR spin-off, which were cool, but the series has mostly stuck to its core gameplay. I’d heard whispers about a Horizon MMORPG for ages, and I thought it was scrapped, but it looks like it’s actually happening! From what I’m hearing, we’ll probably get a full reveal pretty soon, and I can’t wait!
10-Minute Video of MMORPG Horizon Steel Frontiers Coming Soon, According to Leak
Okay, so a leak just hit, and it’s seriously exciting! The Verge got a hold of a 10-minute video of the Horizon MMO – it’s called Horizon Steel Frontiers, and they even shared some of the key art, which looks amazing! Apparently, the big reveal was planned for G-STAR 2025, but things didn’t quite stay under wraps. I’m so hyped to see more!
The game is a partnership between PlayStation and NCSoft, a Korean developer. A gameplay video was planned to be shown, featuring both finished and work-in-progress footage. Unlike the original games where you play as Aloy, this MMORPG will let you create your own character and team up with other players in a world called the Deathlands. It’s scheduled for release on PC, iOS, and Android, but there’s currently no information about a release date or whether it will be available on PlayStation 5.
Don’t take this news as definite just yet, as the game hasn’t been officially confirmed. However, based on what’s been leaked, an announcement is likely coming soon. It will be fascinating to see how Horizon translates into a massive online game and how it differs from the original games.
