This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.
Despite the absence of Naruto and Sasuke, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex remains popular with fans. The story is engaging as the new generation of ninjas grows stronger and forges its own path. The creators, Ikemoto and Kishimoto, are clearly building these young characters to eventually take over from the older generation of shinobi. For example, Sarada Uchiha is being positioned to become the next Hokage, taking Naruto’s place, and someone is also being prepared to step into Sasuke’s role as Konoha’s hidden protector.
From the beginning, it’s been obvious that Boruto Uzumaki is taking over Sasuke’s role in the story. Boruto has trained extensively with Sasuke and shares his dedication to protecting the village. While he isn’t as powerful yet, the series is clearly positioning him as Sasuke’s long-term successor, and the author, Ikemoto, is handling this transition very well.
Boruto Uzumaki Is The New Replacement For Sasuke In Two Blue Vortex
At the start of the Boruto series, Sasuke Uchiha became Boruto’s mentor, training him daily. Sasuke not only made Boruto physically stronger, but also taught him the values and principles of a ninja, which Boruto initially needed help with.
I will free you no matter what. Just wait a bit longer, Master Sasuke. — Boruto Uzumaki
After his fight with Momoshiki Otsutsuki, Boruto Uzumaki became determined to follow in Sasuke Uchiha’s footsteps and become a strong ninja. He’s grown a lot since then, especially considering everything he’s lost, and it’s clear he’s now well on his way to becoming Sasuke’s successor.
When Boruto left with Sasuke, Sasuke made sure he thoroughly trained Boruto in all his skills and fighting methods. Boruto has already become a formidable fighter, mirroring Sasuke Uchiha’s abilities, but more importantly, he shares Sasuke’s beliefs. Boruto doesn’t aspire to be Hokage, nor does he seek recognition. He wants to be a silent guardian, protecting people from the shadows, just like Sasuke.
Boruto Protects The Village From The Shadows Like Sasuke
Sasuke Uchiha is currently unavailable, having sacrificed himself to save Boruto Uzumaki and subsequently being transformed into a tree, effectively removing him from action for the time being. Now, Boruto Uzumaki has taken on the responsibility of protecting Konoha, despite facing the village’s disapproval. He remains vigilant and swiftly defends Konoha from any danger.
Sasuke put his life in danger to save me, and to protect you, Sarada. — Boruto Uzumaki
I’ve been watching Boruto, and what strikes me most is that he doesn’t seek recognition. All he really wants is to keep his loved ones safe. He’s developed an impressive skillset – his fighting style, jutsu, and overall power – and a real dedication to protecting Konoha. Honestly, he’s become so capable, he’s practically the next Sasuke, giving the village a sense of security even when Sasuke isn’t there to help.
Boruto Will Surpass Sasuke Uchiha
Boruto is trying his best to live up to the challenge created by Sasuke’s departure. But he’s not simply trying to replace him; he’s also dedicated to becoming even more powerful than Sasuke one day. While Sasuke’s impact and fame will always be greater than Boruto’s, Boruto is determined to exceed him in strength.
The next chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, chapter 28, will be available on November 20, 2025, at 10 AM Eastern Time / 3 PM Coordinated Universal Time. Fans can read it for free on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
