Helpful Tool Estimates When Games Will Be Free on PS Plus, Game Pass, and EGS

A free, web-based tool is now available that predicts when games might be added to PlayStation Plus, Xbox Game Pass, and the Epic Games Store. It uses a lot of data to estimate when thousands of games will appear on these services, which could be useful and entertaining for gamers who follow these subscriptions.

While streaming game services are convenient, they can be unreliable. Games appear and disappear quickly – sometimes within months – and it’s annoying to buy a game only to see it offered as part of a subscription service soon after. It’s therefore common for players to try and predict which games will be added or removed, and these predictions aren’t just guesses. Online communities, like the PlayStation Plus subreddit, are full of players carefully analyzing past patterns, company actions, and sales data to understand how these services work, even though they can be quite unpredictable.

Redditor Releases Free, Interactive PS Plus, Game Pass, and EGS Predictive Model

On November 12, 2025, a Reddit user named lyndonguitar shared details about a project they created to predict when games will be offered for free. The program, called “Epic Game Pass When,” is a web-based tool that uses Python and historical data from game giveaways between 2010 and 2025 to estimate release dates. According to lyndonguitar, the program considers a publisher’s history, whether a game has been available on other subscription services, and its Metacritic score to make these predictions.

Epic Game Pass is a tool that forecasts when games will be available on the Epic Games Store, Xbox Game Pass, and PlayStation Plus Extra. It doesn’t predict games for PlayStation Plus Premium or the basic monthly PlayStation Plus games.

This tool isn’t perfect, and its creator, lyndonguitar, says it’s primarily for fun, not serious research. It uses data from RAWG.io, which relies on user contributions, meaning the information can be inaccurate or missing. For example, currently, if you check whether Palworld is on PlayStation through this tool, it will incorrectly state that it isn’t – despite being available on the platform.

Even though data isn’t always perfect and predicting what will be popular is tricky, Epic Game Pass offers a good look at how subscription services are changing the way we talk about games. We don’t usually know exactly why a game is added to these services, but these decisions aren’t likely made by chance. Trying to understand the reasoning behind them can help us better understand the current, rapidly changing video game market.
