Final Fantasy 14 Unveils New Cosmetics, But There’s A Catch

On November 14th, Final Fantasy 14 added a new mount and two new hairstyles. However, players need to spend real money to get them. Collecting all three of these cosmetic items will cost a total of $34 in the game’s online store.

Just three days after the release of Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.38, new items appeared in the online store. Patch 7.38 primarily addressed problems within the Pilgrim’s Traverse deep dungeon, ensuring players could progress without getting stuck. The update also removed all loot restrictions for the AAC Cruiserweight Tier (Savage) raid, making it easier to acquire better gear. Finally, players can now find a poster featuring artwork from Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles in treasure chests during the Return To Ivalice alliance raid series, which is accessible with the Stormblood expansion.

Final Fantasy 14 Players Can Buy A New Mount And Two Hairstyles

Final Fantasy 14 players now have three new items to collect, but they’ll need to spend real money to get them. Two new hairstyles, ‘Modern Aesthetics – Hairstyle M’ and ‘Modern Aesthetics – Hairstyle F,’ are available in the Online Store for $5 each. These styles are inspired by the look of the superboss Omega from raids like The Omega Protocol (Ultimate). Despite the ‘M’ and ‘F’ in their names, any character can use these hairstyles, regardless of gender or race. Players can also purchase them as gifts for friends, though each purchase only unlocks the style for a single character. In late 2023, the Online Store also added gender-specific gear pieces inspired by Omega-M and Omega-F, which cost $12 each.

In addition to the new Omega-inspired hairstyles, Final Fantasy 14 players who collect mounts can now buy the Hovering Hot Pot. This unique, floating mount costs $24 and is for one player only. Although you can’t give it to friends, it’s linked to your account, meaning you only need to purchase it once for all your characters – both current and future – on that account.

The three cosmetics together cost $34, not including tax or other fees. With more updates planned for the upcoming Dawntrail expansion, it’s exciting to wonder what other surprises Final Fantasy 14 has planned for players.
