One Piece Biggest Fights In The Elbaf Arc

The Elbaf arc is widely considered a highlight of the entire One Piece series, and many fans believe it’s the best one yet. It truly captures the heart of what makes One Piece so great, offering a fantastic balance of story, exciting action, and emotional moments. Plus, Oda used this arc to reveal long-awaited secrets, like the events that unfolded at God Valley.

Beyond its compelling story and detailed world, this arc is packed with exciting action. The Elbaf arc features numerous fantastic fights, and some connect to events shown in the God Valley flashback. The battles vary in length—some are quick, lasting just a few minutes, while others are extended and take hours to unfold.

This post contains spoilers for One Piece.

Davy D. Xebec vs. Figarland Garling

Winner: Davy D. Xebec

  • Xebec was trying to save his family
  • Garling was beaten

The recent flashback to God Valley heavily featured Davy D. Xebec, captain of the Rocks Pirates. Fans were eager to learn more about him, as he always seemed like a compelling figure. Oda’s reveal of Xebec’s true character was a welcome surprise for readers.

The story showed a memory of Xebec going to God Valley to save his wife and child from the Celestial Dragons. He was fiercely protective of his family and determined to rescue them no matter what. When Garling, a powerful Holy Knight, tried to intervene, Xebec easily defeated him and continued on his way. It’s actually quite amusing that Garling was presented as God Valley’s champion, considering how quickly Xebec took him down.

Davy D. Xebec vs. Harald

Winner: Davy D. Xebec

  • The first encounter started their friendship
  • Harald and Rocks were equal in terms of strength

Besides Xebec, a key focus of the flashback was Harald, the king of Elbaf. Early in the story, Harald was frequently mentioned, hinting at his importance. He was known as Elbaf’s greatest ruler due to his kindness and fairness, but also because he was a strong and uncompromising leader.

I’ve heard a lot about Harald, a truly powerful figure. He was incredibly strong physically and with his Haki – he could go toe-to-toe with almost anyone, even Xebec. I understand they first met in Marijoa, and their battle was devastating, completely wrecking the surrounding area. They fought again in Elbaf, which apparently put a serious strain on their relationship. Their final showdown happened at sea. Initially, Harald agreed to fight Xebec because the World Government offered to recognize Elbaf as an ally if he did. However, after discovering the truth about Xebec’s history, Harald deliberately held back and let Xebec win. These three fights are incredibly important to the bigger story of One Piece, and that’s why they’re so significant.

Scopper Gaban vs. Shepherd Sommers

Winner: Scopper Gaban

  • Gaban bypassed Sommers’ regeneration
  • Gaban’s, victory saved the Straw Hats

The Elbaf arc introduced Scopper Gaban, a remarkably charming character with a fascinating history. He once served as Gol D. Roger’s right-hand man and has resided in Elbaf for decades, earning the nickname Ya-san from the locals. Fans were eager to see Gaban fight, curious to gauge his power level in comparison to Silvers Rayleigh.

I didn’t have to wait long to see Gaban fight. When the Holy Knights attacked Elbaf, they had no idea he was there. The first one to feel his power was Shepherd Sommers. After causing a lot of trouble for the people of Elbaf, Sommers finally got what he deserved. Gaban swiftly chopped off his hand and then delivered a final blow, effectively taking him out of the fight.

Davy D. Xebec vs. Roger And Garp

Winner: Roger And Garp

  • Xebec wanted to be stopped
  • Roger and Garp joined hands to beat Xebec

Davy D. Xebec was central to what happened at God Valley. He went to the island hoping to rescue his wife and child from danger. Although he managed to save them, he wasn’t able to save himself. Imu used a power called Domi Reversi on Xebec, transforming him into a demon. Xebec fought against this transformation, but ultimately failed. Imu then ordered him to kill his own family and everyone else on the island. Thankfully, Kuma intervened and saved Eris and Teach before Xebec could reach them.

I watched as the pirate captain, a truly terrifying figure, focused his attention on Garp and Roger. He actually asked them to kill him, which understandably confused them, but they knew, deep down, it had to be done. While everyone else was scrambling to escape, Roger and Garp stood firm and engaged him in battle. They unleashed wave after wave of Conqueror’s Haki, but nothing seemed to even faze him. Finally, Roger discovered a weakness in his defenses. It was a desperate, risky move, but they were out of options. Luckily, the gamble paid off, and the pirate captain finally fell.
