The popular sci-fi survival game, Astroneer, is launching on PS5 later this month. Developed by System Era Softworks, Astroneer first gained a following in 2019 and is known for its immersive atmosphere and focus on exploration. Players enjoy gathering resources and reshaping planets to their liking using a range of tools. Soon, PS5 players will be able to experience all the cosmic adventures Astroneer has to offer, with improved performance thanks to the new version.
Since its first release and three years in early access, Astroneer has received many updates, officially launching in 2019. It later became available on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The game’s publisher, Devolver Digital, acquired the development studio, System Era Softworks, and together they created the ‘Glitchwalkers’ expansion. They’ve also announced a spin-off game, Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions, planned for release next year. Now, Astroneer is preparing to launch on another Sony platform.
Popular Sci-Fi Game Astroneer is Getting a PS5 Version
System Era Softworks announced that Astroneer is coming to PS5 later this month. Players who already own the game on PS4 will receive the PS5 version as a free upgrade – they won’t need to purchase it again. The PS5 version will offer improved graphics, running at 4K resolution with 60 frames per second, and will also take advantage of the Dualsense controller’s features. The release is scheduled for November 20th.
The PS5 version of Astroneer is launching soon and will lead into the release of Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions, a new game from System Era Softworks. Starseeker isn’t a sequel to Astroneer; instead, it’s a more action-packed game inspired by the extraction shooter genre. System Era Softworks plans to regularly update Starseeker with new content, operating it as a live service, but they’ve confirmed there won’t be any purchases within the game itself.
As a PS5 gamer, I’m really excited about all the new games coming out! This week finally brought us Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which is huge, and it’s great to see Astroneer getting a nice upgrade too. Plus, next month looks awesome with Octopath Traveler 0 and Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut both scheduled to drop. Honestly, it feels like the PS5 is going to keep me busy all year long with all these exciting releases!
