Okay, so some info just dropped about the next Pokemon games – Generation 10! Everyone’s calling them ‘Wind and Wave’ for now, which sounds pretty cool. Let’s be real, Pokemon is HUGE, so we know they’re not stopping the main series games anytime soon. After Scarlet and Violet came out in 2022 and went open world, fans like me are getting seriously eager to hear what they’ve got planned for the next generation!
A major leak has revealed details about the upcoming Pokemon games, which are rumored to be called Pokemon Wind and Wave. These new games, set in a region inspired by Southeast Asia, will reportedly feature islands created using procedural generation. A key battle mechanic will involve weather-based moves. While new Pokemon will be introduced, some existing ones will also receive updated designs. Leaked screenshots suggest the games are being built for the Switch 2, and despite the popularity of the original Switch, these new titles are expected to be exclusive to Nintendo’s next-generation console.
New Pokemon Generation 10 Leaks
Popular Pokemon content creator Light recently shared potential new information about the upcoming Pokemon Wind and Wave games. According to a tweet, Wind and Wave will return to the traditional turn-based combat system, but with a more dynamic feel similar to Pokemon Legends: Arceus. While the new Generation 10 Pokemon games are rumored to be moving away from the real-time battles in Legends: Z-A, reports suggest that area-of-effect moves, as seen in Z-A, will still play a significant role in Wind and Wave.
Fans generally liked the fast-paced battles in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, so it might be unexpected that the upcoming Wind and Wave will return to the classic turn-based style. However, it’s smart for Game Freak to try new things with battles in the Legends games, while still keeping the main Pokemon games, which start new generations, more familiar and traditional.
When Will the Generation 10 Pokemon Games Be Announced?
It’s best to be skeptical of any rumors about the next Pokemon games (Generation 10) for now. Pokemon fans should always wait for official announcements before getting too excited about future releases. Fortunately, we likely won’t have to wait long for more news. The Generation 10 games are expected to be officially revealed on Pokemon Day, February 27, 2026. If the rumors are true, these new games will also come out in 2026, and will be available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 towards the end of the year.
The Generation 10 Pokemon Games Won’t Be Alone Next Year
While most people expect the next generation of Pokémon games (Gen 10) to be announced on Pokémon Day next year, it’s best not to get too excited just yet. We aren’t certain if they’ll actually be released in 2026, but we do know that a new Pokémon project is planned for next year.
The new Pokemon Pokopia game will launch on March 5th and will only be available on the Switch 2. It’s similar to games like Animal Crossing and Minecraft, and players will get to play as a Ditto! We’ll likely see more about it during the Pokemon Presents event on Pokemon Day 2026, so fans should definitely watch.
