For a limited time, Steam is giving away Warhammer: Vermintide 2 for free! If you add it to your Steam library, you get to keep the game permanently at no cost.
Steam doesn’t offer free games as consistently as the Epic Games Store, but it does occasionally give games away. This is a worthwhile addition to your library, whether you’re looking for something to play right now or just want to collect games.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is Free to Keep for a Limited Time
PC gamers can get Warhammer: Vermintide 2 for free on Steam until November 24th. It’s a highly-rated game – players generally love it – and there are no subscription costs. Once you add it to your Steam library, you can play as much as you want, whenever you want. Originally released in 2018, Vermintide 2 has a sequel called Warhammer 40,000: Darktide (released in 2022), but continues to receive updates and new content, including extra playable classes for each character. You can claim your free copy of Vermintide 2 on Steam until 10 am Pacific Time on November 24th.
In Warhammer: Vermintide 2, you play as one of five heroes – known as the Ubersreik 5 – battling against a dark and dangerous time. You can team up with up to three other players, and bots will fill in if needed. The available characters are Saltzpyre, a devoted follower of Sigmar; Kruber, a seasoned mercenary; Bardin, a skilled Dwarven ranger; Kerillian, an elven Waystalker; and Sienna, a powerful Battle Wizard who commands fire. Each character offers four different classes, each with a unique playstyle. Three of these classes are unlocked by playing the game, while the final one is available as downloadable content.
Despite being set in the fantasy world of Warhammer, Vermintide 2 often feels like Left 4 Dead. Both games involve a team of four players fighting off waves of enemies, including special and boss types. Each playthrough is slightly different thanks to randomized enemy spawns, even on the same map. Like Left 4 Dead, Vermintide 2 also features a player-versus-player mode where players battle as either heroes or the Skaven in 4v4 matches. There’s also a free roguelike mode called Chaos Wastes. Overall, if you enjoy games similar to Left 4 Dead, you’ll find a lot to do in this game.
